What is happening if someone tests posit in a secondary school?

I've had a notification from school that someone at school has tested positive for Covid-19 - DD says it's someone in her year who is in her maths class (obviously this is just a rumour and could be false, but they usually know who's positive).

DD hasn't been told to isolate - if she is correct about it being someone in her maths class, it this standard now because of the use of lateral flow tests? DD tested negative this evening, they wear masks in class and DD isn't friendly with the pupil she think is positive, so I'm not too concerned, just curious.

It’s close contacts. So people who sit near the case. Not the whole class.

Thank you- I probably should have read the correspondence from school more carefully Blush
