Which jab at Plymouth Argyle?

aibusux2u · 23/04/2021 17:32

Bit of a long shot (sorry, no pun intended) but I wonder if anybody here was vaccinated at Plymouth Argyle recently? I am trying to find out which jabs they offer there but can't get any info. Tried GP, tried 119, no joy.
Thank you.

Definitely Astra zeneca.

aibusux2u · 23/04/2021 17:36

@Cloverforever
And nothing else? My GP seemed to think they might have a couple of options as they are a mass vaccination centre.

If there is a clinical need for a certain vaccine they your GP should assist more than just tell you to try x Centre...

aibusux2u · 23/04/2021 17:52

That was the best he could do. He couldn't find out any more for me,

If anybody happens to know what they are giving out in Exeter (Westpoint) that would be helpful. Thank you.

One of my parents had jab at Exeter and one at Plymouth and both were AZ and weren't given a choice, but this was about 4-6 weeks ago

Quisto · 23/04/2021 18:23

Everyone I know has had AZ in Plymouth, and in SE Cornwall.

udnertheradar · 23/04/2021 18:32

Astra Zeneca I think

freeez · 23/04/2021 18:41

Pavilions have Pfizer tomorrow as DH is having his 2nd jab there. That was booked through the GP system though (group 6) so don't know if you can book there via the national link, or whether they'd give Pfizer for a 1st jab now.

aibusux2u · 23/04/2021 18:46

@freeez Is that in Torquay or Plymouth?

Plymouth Pavilions

Whatever you do please don’t book an appointment unless you know for sure that you are ready to accept the vaccine you are offered.

EvilOnion · 23/04/2021 19:01

When I got mine (different area) you couldn't specify which one you wanted, it seems completely random based on what supplies they have available at the time.

aibusux2u · 23/04/2021 19:02

@ILikeMango I know I am not willing to take AZ because of my medical history.

But I can't get info on which jab is being offered where, so I am stuck between a rock and a hard place.

That's why I'm trying to get what info I can on here.

@freeez Thank you.

If it helps, he had his first Pfizer at Derriford health and leisure centre. But obviously that was several weeks ago now.

Can you contact Argyle directly?

aibusux2u · 23/04/2021 19:10

Unfortunately not, no. I have been trying to get phone numbers for Argyle and Westpoint but no luck at all.
I know that Dawlish do Pfizer but I can't book directly with them.
I am not sure if you have to stick to the centre that your own GP practice feeds into.

If you book through 119 you can go anywhere. A lot of the vaccines available at individual centres is dependent on what they had x weeks ago as a lot are doing second vaccinations. If your GP thinks you should have a certain one he should be helping you to do that. If they are in a GP hub, he will know as they have to have the correct ones for 2nd jabs.

user1468690058 · 24/04/2021 11:24

Had mine at Argyle 10 weeks ago, AZ, daughter had hers there last week, also AZ.

DachshundDerby · 24/04/2021 11:33

If your GP has advised you that you can’t have AZ then your GP should make arrangements for you to have a different vaccine.

If this is your personal choice / decision then there is nothing you can do except accept what is available at your local centre which is more than likely going to be AZ.

Pfizer being used for second doses where I live but not first doses. AZ used widely.

Thisisconfusing · 24/04/2021 14:17

It’s AZ - Dsis vaccinator there .

Cloverforever · 24/04/2021 19:48

It's Pfizer at Derriford. I have the number you can call to book direct. Let me know if you want t it and I'll dm you.

ChequerBoard · 24/04/2021 19:55

If you have a genuine medical reason not to have the AZ vaccine then just attend your appointment and tell them that.

When I had my AZ jab, that was the main one being given to all but there were also Pfizer doses available for those that couldn't have AZ. They only told me which one I was having after the medical / consent questions had been run through and I was given the relevant leaflet & advice sheet for the AZ vaccine.

I booked via the NHS website so it would have been a mass vaccination clinic.

IWantAllTheDogsInTheWorld · 24/04/2021 19:58

I had Moderna at Plymouth Stadium, two weeks ago. There was no choice, apparently it's one of the hubs where it was being trialled from.

Makinglists · 24/04/2021 19:59

Def AZ at Argyle.
I was really impressed very slick operation. The volunteers working there were brilliant - big thanks to those giving their time
