Where is Moderna jab available?

It says in the news that the Moderna jab is available at '21 sites, including the Sheffield Arena and Reading's Madejski Stadium.'

Does anyone know the others? Specifically, is it available at St George's in Tooting or are the sites all big stadium-type places?

Anyone?

I'm not asking because I'm trying to wangle a Moderna jab. I suspect an anti-vax relative who is pushing to see my baby has lied to me about having this jab, which is why I'm asking.

I don't think they've released a full list because they want to prevent "vaccine shopping" or having people book at a particular venue just to get the vaccine of their choice.

The only London location I've heard mentioned has been the Islington Business Design Centre.

I’m having mine today in Reading (argh) but when I booked the second jab it was only available in London. I don’t remember seeing St George’s, but I saw Islington BDC (as above), Guys hospital, Twickenham something stadium.. can’t remember the others, sorry.

It's being offered in the Stoke area, DP had the choice of AZ or Moderna yesterday.

So I have a question about the second Moderna jab... I understand that it's administered after 28 days rather than 12 weeks? Does that mean when booking on the national booking line, it offered you 2nd jab appointments in a month's time? Or how does it work? I can only find appointments that are 12 weeks apart.

Etulosba · 19/04/2021 10:02

It isn't just available at big stadium sites.

However, just because it is available at a specific site today or yesterday is no guarantee that it will be available tomorrow.

Nope. 12 weeks. It does say 28 days on the info sheet they give you.

Thanks!

EmmaOvary · 19/04/2021 13:25

Thanks. Ok, so hospitals too. Relative is trying to convince me that her GP 'arranged' for her to have Moderna in a hospital she happened to be going to for another appointment. Doesn't sound plausible to me.

I think I read that someone had Moderna at AFC Wimbledon Plough Lane (very near to St George's) but that was second hand information

ThatOtherPoster · 19/04/2021 16:17

Oh yes, that came up in my list of options. (I remember because I live on a very different Plough Lane, so it jumped out at me.)

Nope. 12 weeks. It does say 28 days on the info sheet they give you.

28 days was the dosing interval Moderna used in the clinical trials, so that's what we have hard efficacy data for. That's the interval we're using in the US.

That said, there's a lot of merit in the UK's strategy of delaying the second dose to make more first doses available, and no reason to think it will have a negative impact on efficacy. You'll still have a lot of immunity 2-3 weeks after the first dose.

Islington BDC had Moderna today and expected to have it in the next week too (according to the people there)
