Age 45 and 'ineligible' for vaccine

Hoping to book the vaccine today but when I try on the website it says I'm ineligible to book. I turned 45 on 31st March. I phoned 119 and they said it is only for people aged 45 and over on 31st March and they couldn't help.

Anyone else having this problem? I'm a keyworker and keen to get vaccinated. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Ring your doctors surgery, you can make appointments through them for your covid jab.

I assume 44 year olds will be eligible in the not too distant future.

Any local vaccine centres where you can put your name down for a spare vaccine if any no shows

My husband too - was 45 the first week of April!

Mummiepig · 14/04/2021 07:59

DH was 50 last week and it kept saying ineligible until yesterday
He contacted his doctor but has only just received a link to book, I think if your birthday falls wrong it takes a few weeks to catch up

My mum is 55. She couldn't book when they opened the first round of 50s (55-60) it wasn't until they opened it to 50+ that she could boom

Book!

I just think you're very unlucky... They have to put a cut off somewhere, and you just happen to be on the wrong side by a day!

MRex · 14/04/2021 08:15

That's really frustrating. It should add you soon, depending on how quickly they move down the groups. Depending on how busy the vaccine sites are where you live, you could ask at a vaccine site if they'll have spare doses; they should take pity on you.

TheThingsWeAdmitOnMN · 14/04/2021 08:19

Yes unfortunately it's done by the age you are at cut off dates, understandable really admin wise. I don't think it'll take long to open up to your age. However, as a key worker I would try my GP.

Umbivalent · 14/04/2021 08:19

Just keep trying each day. They often open up the ages before it's announced officially.

I have the same issue as turned 45 earlier this month. 119 advised me to speak to my gp. I also suffer from post concussion symptoms following an accident last year, however, migraine, vertigo and muscle spasms are not recognised as a underlying health issue. I’m in and out of physio, have a secondary school child and a primary child, so am feeling quite exposed.

WombatChocolate · 14/04/2021 09:16

Just ring your GP and explain and tell them 119 advised you to call them.

They will be able to sort it out...either adding you to a local clinic list or by some other method.

Dont just wait. Be proactive. You meet the criteria of being 45+ and are not trying to jump the queue and it’s an admin issue that’s causing the difficulties. It can be sorted, but you’ll have to speak to GP if you don’t want to wait weeks for it to sort itself out. And there’s no need to wait for weeks and you and all of us will be better off if you’re jabbed sooner rather than later.

Thank you WombatChocolate. I phoned the surgery yesterday and couldn’t get past the receptionist! Having seen this thread, I have now emailed the GP surgery this morning asking them to review my records following conversation with 119 - so fingers crossed!

SaberToothKitten · 14/04/2021 09:43

I turned 50 at the beginning of April and couldn’t book until the age range moved down to 45+, 119 told me that they update eligible populations in batches so it may be worth hanging on for a week or so
