2nd Vaccine-how was it for you?

Plenty of people have posted about their first injection and how they felt afterwards, but now second appointments are starting to come through and I thought it was worth asking. How was it?

Was the second AZ vaccine easier like they say? Or did the second Pfizer injection make you feel funky for a day?

I just had my second AZ this morning and I'm hoping it's going to be smoother than the first!

I was incredibly eager /desperate to get my first vaccine. It was AZ. I felt absolutely terrible (couldn't get out of bed) for 3 days. Then my husband had it the week after and he was even worse. Then my friend had it and same for them. I haven't felt that ill in a very long time.
I am very, nervous about having the second one now. And that was without the blood clot issue we will definitely be having the second one but I am praying I don't feel poorly again. Plus our next ones are booked in for the children's half term holiday from school where we are supposed to be going away for a few days. Not good timing!

@CeibaTree thanks! Good to hear your MiL had no reactions to either the first or second AZ!

Etulosba · 13/04/2021 11:31

I was ill for a couple of days after the first, but not nearly as bad as covid itself. Not even close.

I'm looking forward to my second.

My parents had their second dose of AZ last week and were absolutely fine - no side effects at all. They were both quite ill after their first jab (temp, shivers, aches etc) for about a week so were very nervous about going for the second one.

Most people here seem to be the Pfizer... any other experiences of the AZ? Thanks all who have replied to me. I only have 6 weeks until my 12 weeks are up. I rung my GP yesterday to say they haven’t invited me for my second and when will they book me in... they were very vague and said oh we’ll let you know. Surely they must know their clinics for the next 6 weeks? I’m really worried about being missed! Does anyone know if I can book online for my second if I was invited through GP for my first?

Second dose AZ yesterday. Felt a bit chilly for an hour in afternoon (mind you I was sat down doing nothing) but absolutely no side effects.

First vaccine again felt chilly in afternoon (had both vaccine doses same time), but also felt sick in the afternoon/evening and had tiredness/a dull headache quite soon lasting for a week.

ifonly4 · 13/04/2021 14:40

OP, don't worry at the moment about being overlooked. Many hubs/pharmacies and GPs are booking last minute depending on vaccine availability. My Mum had just got past ten weeks from first vaccine and had a phone call booking people in for the afternoon as they'd had a delivery.

@WhoWants2Know

As I was leaving the vaccine centre, a man on a pennyfarthing pulled up next to me. 😂 For a minute I thought he must be a side effect.
This made me laugh quite a lot! Brilliant!

I'm just heading home from work, I had my second Pfizer yesterday and I don't feel great, chills and every part of me that touches something feels raw. I guess a bit like flu really. Going to sleep it off and feel fine in the morning I reckon. I had no problems after the first one other than the injection site feeling sore.

lunar1 · 13/04/2021 15:32

Headaches for 2 weeks with the first Pfizer, zero side effects with the second.

DH was fine with the first, and had a day of fly like symptoms with the second.

WhoWants2Know · 13/04/2021 19:27

I was doing ok until about 24 hours after the second injection, and then got a headache from hell that won't shift. It could be worse, but I hope it wears off soon!

Are you in SE London?
WhoWants2Know · 13/04/2021 20:02

Nope, it was a tiny town in the middle of nowhere

Ah I see. There is a man in SE London who regularly rides around on one!
RoseWineTime · 13/04/2021 20:52

I had a slightly sore arm after my first jab and 24 hours of flu like symptoms after my second jab 4 weeks later. I don’t know what I’ve had in what order though, as I’m on the mixed Pfizer/AstraZeneca trial!
