Anyone experiencing edema of the eyelids after AZ?

Husband had AZ 8 days back and have woken up couple of days now with swollen eyelids...he tries to tough out things so I don’t know if he has other symptoms that he is not being vocal about. This of course can be seen hence I’ve noticed.

I hope he’s spoken to a doctor. Isn’t that a sign of an allergic reaction?

It could be anything. Even though it might possibly be a side effect, he needs to be checked by a doctor. I had slightly swollen eyes with natural Covid infection, but not too swollen.

I haven't had the vaccine yet but have had Covid very recently. My eyelids were swollen on approximately 5 or 6 days of my isolation period. I had thought it was perhaps due to BP issues but it may have been from Covid itself. I would definitely check with your GP.

Thank you for your responses. Will try OOHs Gp as our surgery is having a queue of 14 on the phone line

You can report reactions yourself using the yellow card scheme:

yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk/

QuietBatPeople1 · 09/04/2021 20:17

@bumbleymummy yes but didn’t want to add symptoms which are possibly not connected to the vaccine.

Will see tomorrow and make a decision- it’s not swollen shut but was swollen in the morning- gone down now.

Don’t worry QuietBatPeople1 that’s how the yellow card system works. You report any strange effects that happened close to the medicine and total numbers are compared against the incidence of the same effect in the general population.

This is how they determine whether something is a side effect of a drug or not.

Oh my gosh me!! Although I had the jab a month ago.. eyelids swollen every morning and itchy too. I have never had hay fever in my life so I don’t feel it’s that. It’s come completely out of the blue.

..and definitely do not have covid as tested regularly at work

gingganggooleywotsit · 09/04/2021 21:19

I’ve been to the pharmacists to get eye drops and taken piriton but nothing works. Please let me know if your husband finds a solution thank you

I'd suspect hay fever at this time of year. When I got the AZ I was advised any symptoms in the first 48 hours were likely to be because of the vaccine but after 8 days surely something else?
