Early recognition of CVST is crucial to full recovery

As statistically rare as this is, we need to be shouting out about the importance of detecting CVST at an early stage, and what symptoms people need to look out for in the early days after vaccination (eg rapid onset of severe headaches, visual disturbances, vomiting). People can make a full neurological recovery if it’s treated early (one of the men who died in the U.K. was suffering for 10 days before seeking treatment).

We know that Pfizer and Moderna vaccines have rare risks of severe anaphylactic shock, and we have a sense of how to mitigate against that. The same needs to be done here in order to reassure people.

Every single cvst is different, just like every single stroke is different. I had mine for 3 weeks before I had a scan and it hemorrhaged.

The headache is like something you've never felt before its not even like a headache it's like someone's hit you over the head with a hammer. Its make you sick and sensitive to sunlight.

I recovered fully apart from my eye sight but I see absolutely fine with very strong prescription glasses.

True. A young relative is currently in hospital with CVST, believed to be due to vaccine. He had headaches and sickness, it's early days I'm not sure how long symptoms were on going for. Very scared for him and think Dr should have been more alert to the possibility, sending him home with liquid paracetamol and telling him to get more sleep...

What is the treatment for CVST with low platelets as clots and low platelets would normally require opposite treatments?

RoseWineTime · 08/04/2021 21:01

Thank you - I had a quick skim but couldn’t see what the treatment is?

So is it possible in the UK this has gone under reported and now cases could potentially rise as medical professionals will be looking out for cases?
