Do you think they’ll change the vaccine order?

When moderna arrives in England (I know Wales already have it), is it still going to be offered to the 40+ category or will they now be saving all other vaccines for the 29 and unders? And the 30-49 cohort will have to just wait until AZ supplies pick back up & comes their way?

Or will it all just go ahead as planned with 40-49 being called up next?

Just can’t quite get my head around the logistics of the under 30’s needing to not have a specific jab.. seems complicated.

Imo they will use AZ for the older people it’s approved for and will save the other brands for those who can’t have AZ.

The CEV being quite tightly defined hasn't really been an issue, but who should be included in group 6 has caused GPs a lot of admin work and there are many younger people still being done in that group, and who will need non-AZ vaccines.

I think the overall best outcome is to get everyone done as quickly as possible in something as close to risk order as possible. There might be some lumpiness with vaccine supply, and a longer wait for those who should not have AZ, but I don't think that will throw the programme out that badly

No. I think theyll continue as planned. I alao think they will offer Astra Zeneca to under 30s (how else will they offer everyone a first vaccination by July?) but will also give a xhoice as to whether they want to wait longer for a different vaccine (e.g. Janssen in the autumn)

Some areas have already covered 40+ with AZ before the developments this week and moved into younger age bands.

At 40, I'm not unduly concerned. The risks of clots have been higher from hormonal contraceptive, birth and long haul flights, and while I'm not significantly concerned about Covid either, the benefit of the AZ vaccine is more favourable than trying my luck on that.
