Could this be a COVID rash? Or just heat rash?

Woke up with a rash yesterday morning, which developed into the attached pic by yesterday afternoon. It’s all over my torso (front and back), lessening lower down. It’s also faintly my on arms and neck, but not on legs or face. It’s not itchy.

I’m not a person who tends to get rashes - the last time I had a full body rash was when I had rubella age 5.

Anyway, I had the slightest of slight coughs this morning, so took a test this morning. I’ve got a slightly sore throat and feel a tiny bit run down (possibly only because I’m thinking about it), but no temp.

I’ve been having particularly bad pre-menstrual night sweats these past three days (had a recent blood test and all normal on that front, bar low ferritin levels), and wondered if this is just a heat rash.

While I await the test results, anyone want to hazard a guess as to whether this is COVID or whether it looks like a heat rash? I know nobody can give me an answer, but just trying to fill time before my results!

Could this be a COVID rash? Or just heat rash?

From what I’ve seen covid rash could be a symptom of covid. You’ve done the right thing in getting tested, just in case.

giletrouge · 07/04/2021 16:54

Could be either - but if it was a heat rash surely it'd be itchy?

When will you get your result OP?

LovingBob · 07/04/2021 16:58

It could be pityriasis rosea, it's a rash on the torso that starts with a bigger spot/small circular area patch, mainly in younger women, best you got a test though just in case.

Cowmilk · 07/04/2021 17:00

As you said it is not itchy, I would say maybe covid.

OliveTree75 · 07/04/2021 17:05

I had this rash when I had confirmed covid allover my back. Also not itchy at all. Looked like chicken pox. A nurse at my GPs looked at a photo and said covid causes loads of different rashes

It does look like pityriasis rosea, but it’s not really raised/bumpy and there’s no single larger patch that I’ve noticed, although actually the patches are bigger on my back.

I really hope it’s not COVID. I had some aching in my leg on Sunday that I ended up taking painkillers for. I thought it was just a muscular thing, but ... hmmm ...

No idea why that came out twice - tried deleting the first as thought the filter showed the shape of the rash better!

I had a rash similar to that on my front and back with Covid. But mine itched. I've still got it on my back (nearly 3 months later) and it still itches!

ComtesseDeSpair · 07/04/2021 17:39

Any sore throat or fever? Because that looks like the rash I had when I had scarlet fever.

Bobkitten · 07/04/2021 17:44

Gosh, Olivetree, that looks itchy - can’t believe it wasn’t. How long did it last?

That’s what I thought re: heat rash, giletrouge. Bugger, really wanted it to be that.

Should hopefully have the result by tomorrow morning.

I had a mild sore throat this morning but can’t notice it now. Looks a bit red at the back but nothing spectacular. My temp is 37.2 - completely normal for me.

Weirdly, I’ve had moments of strange itchiness on my body but could be psychological!

The night sweats have been something else though. They’ve been bad the past couple of years anyway, but even my bloody forearms were dripping last night! Sad

I had it about a week. Wasn't itchy at all, infact I didn't even know it was there until I put my bra on and burst one of the blisters 🤢 I had really mild Covid to go with the rash. Loss of smell, bit of sore throat and blocked nose.
Fingers crossed you get a negative result!

PuppyMonkey · 07/04/2021 18:54

Have you tried taking Piriton in case it’s an allergic reaction to something?

Bobkitten · 07/04/2021 19:17

Thanks OliveTree, the more fingers crossed the better! Very glad you’re all better now.

PuppyMonkey, funny you say that - I took one an hour or so ago, just in case!

Fingers crossed for you here too OP. That rash looks nasty. Let's face it, covid is far from being the only illness in town - just the only one we're all thinking about!
Hope you're better soon whatever it all is.

LovingBob · 07/04/2021 21:56

Hopefully you get a negative result and it will just be something like pityriasis rosea which is pretty harmless but a bit of a pita as it lasts about 3 months

giletrouge · 08/04/2021 09:51

Did you get your result OP?

Bobkitten · 08/04/2021 09:58

Thanks - I did and it’s negative! Woohoo. The rash seems to be fading too, so wondering if it was a non-itchy sweat rash in the end.

giletrouge · 08/04/2021 10:17

Good news it's not covid! Keep an eye on the rash though. Hopefully as you say it'll just go on fading now. Smile

Great news. Thanks for letting us know.
