Did any of your pets get sick with covid?

OP posts:
SpnBaby1967 · 05/04/2021 11:24

No? Hmm

uglyallday · 05/04/2021 11:27

No, me and DH had Covid and were hugging and petting the cat but she did not catch it.

MozzchopsThirty · 05/04/2021 11:27

No, all 5 of us had it
Cat & dog fine

GeorgeandHarold66 · 05/04/2021 11:28

They've never mentioned it, no.

SappysCurry · 05/04/2021 11:29

My neon tetra looked a bit green around the gills for a while, he may have just been off colour though, can’t confirm it was covid - sorry

Dementedswan · 05/04/2021 11:29

🤣🤣🤣
OliveTree75 · 05/04/2021 11:30

Erm, no. My dog never leaves my DPs side including when he had covid and she was fine.

Chocolateismakingmefat · 05/04/2021 11:31

Coincidence or not our dhusky had a bout of 4 weeks of a cough and a bit off...
Recovered now. Other ddogs were fine.

LaChatte · 05/04/2021 11:37

2 of my 6 cats were ill with runny noses, coughing and generally not great when I had covid. Didn't get them tested though so can't say for sure.

LaChatte · 05/04/2021 11:37

Sneezing sorry, not coughing.

HolmeH · 05/04/2021 12:18

We actually think my parents cat had COVID in March 2020! He was really poorly & had a ‘cough’. He slept for about 6 days solid, sneezed, runny nose, fever .. very stiff when he did move.

He was tested for cat flu & other illness & all came back clear. The vet was baffled. Then rang my parents in April and said she was convinced he had covid! 🙈 🤷🏼‍♀️

kittensarecute · 05/04/2021 12:43

No, my cat's been absolutely fine but she is brilliant at social distancing!

moominmomma1234 · 05/04/2021 14:26

I bet most people don’t realise that cats from covid positive households are suppose to stay indoors during the isolation period

XiCi · 05/04/2021 14:34

I wonder whether my pup had it when we did. He developed a funny little cough, was off his food for a few days and looked really sorry for himself.

VictoriaBun · 05/04/2021 14:35

We both ( dh and I) became very ill around Christmas time. I awoke one night not being able to breathe and thought dh would have to call an ambulance. Got an emergency appointment next !morning which showed my says were a bit borderline , she could see I was struggling to catch a breath. Was given antibiotics and for the first time in my life steroids. I had no sense of smell of taste as well.
This was all before no smell/ taste was a market and covid was yet to take off, so who knows if it was.
Whilst all this was going on our cat also became ill and she never is. She was struggling to breathe , not really eating , no energy. She was taken to the vet and was also given antibiotics and steroids. We asked if cats can catch flu from people as we'd assumed that's what I had and was told no. IF it was covid that we'd had , then maybe a small chance the cat had it as well. I guess we will never know.

VictoriaBun · 05/04/2021 14:37

Lots of typos there , but hopefully you can get the gist !

Yeah, it can be really hard to tell with tetras, to be fair.
CrunchyCarrot · 05/04/2021 16:01

We had 3 month old kittens at the time DP became ill with Covid so we kept them well away from him just in case.

Moondust001 · 05/04/2021 16:04

Yes, but he was asymptomatic, and we only realised when we took him to the testing centre.

SappysCurry · 06/04/2021 21:53

@picklemewalnuts

Were the swabs small enough for his little nostrils though ? i have been pawndering this
vodkaredbullgirl · 06/04/2021 22:02

Don't think my dogs would like for me to do and lft on them.

SappysCurry · 06/04/2021 22:13

@vodkaredbullgirl

Indeed - and I dread to think the carnage a small rodent such as a Syrian hamster or a guinea pig could potentially create - if the swabs were too bulky ? Doesn’t bear thinking about really 🤦🏻‍♀️

SweetAsANutt · 06/04/2021 22:16

Not sure.
Every time he saw the swab, he kept pulling this face.
