Just read BJ is possibly going to roll out LFTs to every home in England... Surely if you didn't want to play fair you'd run it under tap water to ensure a negative result? I'm not condoning this AT ALL and I would play fair and do it properly.... But trusting the general public to is a bit... Hmm

Don't you need PCR tests for holiday, so you get notification of test result which you will have to show.

I assume big ticket events will probably expect you to do the test at the gate before you are allowed in

I’m pretty certain you need pcr tests for holidays and getting on a plane. You have to book them and pay for them. You can’t just do a lateral flow test and jump on a plane. Will be the same for the vaccine passports, the government knows that not everyone puts the safety and well-being of others first.
We do 2 lateral flow tests per week for work and our employers trust that we are honest and understand the whole point in doing the test in the first place. To protect anyone vulnerable catching it from us as well as help us protect ourselves and family.

Veuvestar · 05/04/2021 19:04

Oh ffs- these are just available to everyone for peace of mind, no-one is being forced to take them.

These tests are not being used to gain access to events! Or for any type of passport

We’ve had access to no symptom tests for months now and it’s massively reassuring to know you’re not passing it on.

TristantheTyrannosaurus · 05/04/2021 19:06

Sounds good to me! If that's what it takes, cheat away.

ClafoutisSurprise · 05/04/2021 19:53

@Veuvestar - they haven’t really been framed in that way, though. If the message is that we encourage people to take these up if it makes them more confident about going out and getting back to normal, that would be fine.

Instead, the focus appears to be on how important it is that we all start testing. That to me suggests that the plan is to embed this as yet another new normal measure. Once you establish that, there is indeed pressure and even coercion to take them.

I heard of someone who swabbed a pineapple.....test result came back positive Shock

Cur massive panic on the gullible who will now be insisting that pineapples spread covid, fresh should be completely outlawed and tins of pineapple chunks having to wear wear masks snd have have covid tests before being allowed on supermarket shelves.

QuidditchQueen · 06/04/2021 12:51

If LFT tests are good enough to allow people to go to work and school and to care homes, why are they not good enough for plane travel etc?
The obvious answer is that the gvt knows people are not bothering to do them but it only matters for plane travel, not those other places.
So completely pointless waste of money and only here to keep spinning the message that ‘covid is scary’.
