Public transport for exercise/outdoor recreation?

I have mobility issues that have been pretty awful these last few weeks but as today is supposed to be so nice I was considering going to my local arboretum for a light walk/sit in the sun shine with DD as it's flat enough to make getting around it easier. Is it allowed to get a bus to exercise as its too far to walk (only a ten minute bus ride though).

Just go for it! And have a lovely day in the sunshine 🌞

You can go where you want, so long as you don't stay overnight. Enjoy!

You are aware lockdown has finished aren’t you? We no longer have to “stay at home” or have a reason to be out. Go ahead and enjoy.

Womencanlift · 30/03/2021 08:30

It depends where you are. Lockdown isn’t finished everywhere 🙄

But on the whole regardless where you are 10 minutes is no distance at all so go for it

I've been shielding so tbh I have no idea what's going on out there Grin

You can yes, the messaging on public transport was Travel for Legally Permitted Reasons (railway stations and operators had messages to this effect)

However, as you were always allowed out to exercise it was already possible to use a bus of train for this purpose

Waxonwaxoff0 · 30/03/2021 08:43

Yes of course you are. No one asks why you are on the bus anyway, I've used public transport throughout as I can't drive and never been asked where I'm going.

Jo99996 · 30/03/2021 08:45

The BTP were doing random check on the railway but it isn’t aimed at genuine people going about their daily business, it’s been an operation to catch the county lines drug runners.

The rules are do wooly it is no wonder you are confused. Given you have a disability anyway you would surely have been exempt although I get that you were shielding.
Go and have a lovely time.

Lockdown is not finished.

There's a slight lifting of restrictions. If people carry on as if it's over, we will end up with restrictions staying in place longer.

@Beebityboo. It's good to hear you're looking at going out with DD. It's fine to take the bus to the Arboretum. I know you'll be wearing your mask on the bus & using sanitiser. Enjoy your day out with DD.

Ten minutes bus ride is fine. Hope you have an enjoyable walk in the arboretum.
