Message on National vaccine booking site saying missed your 1st appointment

Rollergirl11 · 29/03/2021 10:51

Was trying the National booking site with DH’s details as I do every day. It usually says that he is not eligible yet but today it is saying that he has missed his 1st appointment and needs to book both of them again. When I go on to try and book I then get the not eligible message again.

I have tried this from 2 different devices and it is the same. Has anyone else had this? Something is obviously flagged different on his record now but I’m worried that something has gone wrong and he will be missed for the vaccine.

DH is 48 with asthma but wasn’t classed as vulnerable for Group 6.

Ring 119 for advice.

CappuccinoCounter · 29/03/2021 10:57

I think other people have had this and found that clearing the cache or trying a new browser solves it.

It would be great if the national site has now opened to 48 year olds!

Mindymomo · 29/03/2021 11:01

Ring 119, who will probably tell you to ring GP.

steppemum · 29/03/2021 11:03

yes I have had this.

Basically if you have logged on to the site, then it seems to give you that message the next time you log in.

I have logged in, but been unable to book as not yet eligible, yet the nexttime it says you missed/cancelled an appointment.

Don't worry about it. Ignore.

also, just as an aside, if you are now eligible, (eg when they said over 50s could book) and you go through the website, you will get an appointment for 2-3 weeks time, and probably struggle to get one local to you.
But, within about a week, your GP will text/phone. They will offer you a vaccine locally within a week. So basically same time.

I waited for the call, and got a jab 3 days later.

CappuccinoCounter · 29/03/2021 11:05

that depends hugely on the area, though. Some areas only the vaccination hubs booked through the national link are offering to the lower age groups, and the GPs are still on groups 6-9. Other areas, it is the GPs that are able to offer to the under-50s. So don't count on it. If you can book through the national site, I would - then if you happen to get a GP invitation sooner, you can always cancel. I'd be really keen to hear if any under 50s are now able to book on the national site. I konw that they sometimes allow a year or two below what it says on the first page, before announcing it, but I'd be a little surprised (but relieved) if they are still doing that despite the government's announcement on the shortage.

Rollergirl11 · 29/03/2021 11:05

I have tried from a 3rd device now and still getting the message so I don’t think it’s a case of clearing the cache. I shall get DH to call 119. I am hoping that it’s because he has been flagged as being invited from our local GP hub and he will receive an invite shortly. But that’s probs just wishful thinking! 😬🥴

very exciting if 48 year olds are soon/already eligible. I'm a little bit younger myself. Hope you get it sorted. Let us know!

lightyearsahead · 29/03/2021 11:44

Just ignore it, you can still book both your jabs if you are eligible. Booked mine up with no fuss and got same message. I was done a week ago aged 55.

Aposterhasnoname · 29/03/2021 11:47

It’s a glitch, don’t worry. I had that message for weeks but was able to book with no problem as soon as my turn came.

Spied · 29/03/2021 11:50

I tried to book my second appointment online.
The system knew I had received my first but told me I had missed my second and wouldn't allow me to re-book.
I made my second appointment through my G.P ( which tbh wasn't without issue).

Rollergirl11 · 29/03/2021 11:51

Yeah he has spoken to 119 who say it’s just a mistake. I think I was just trying to read something more in to it out of sheer desperation!

The message "you missed your appointment" is a glitch - I have been getting it for a few weeks. Haven't had any invitations from GP.

What matters is what you see after you click "continue". If the system allows you to book then, of course, you can go ahead. If, like me, you are still seeing the message "You are not currently eligible to book through this service", it, unfortunately, means you have to wait (and keep trying).

CappuccinoCounter · 29/03/2021 12:01

Oh that's a shame. But it does sound like something has changed, if you never used to get that message and now do. Keep trying, and maybe one of these days, it will be letting 48-year olds in!!

steppemum · 29/03/2021 13:55

just keep going through the site and book. It says something like - you m,issed it so you need to book again, so just choose new dates and book again.

if you ohone 119, they basically open the same website on the computer in front of them and book the same way

steppemum · 29/03/2021 13:56

whoops missed your last message

Ponoka7 · 29/03/2021 14:11

It's a standard message. It means that a letter has been generated in his GP. Ignore it and book in. I've booked for people who aren't tech savvy and have had to the message.
A lot of people are also getting texts cancelling their first jab after they've had it. I've found a better choice of venue and times through the national booking site.

EasterIssland · 29/03/2021 14:18

If you've tried booking an appointment before and chosen health worker/unpaid carer , then the next time you try booking it will tell you that you've missed the 1st appointment.

doireallyneedaname · 29/03/2021 17:35

I had this. I booked via my GP anyway and after my first jab the nhs website was still saying I’d missed my first appt and needed to book both again. A glitch I guess.

ColaHubbaBubba · 29/03/2021 22:16

I had this. Got a text as I was eligible. Went to book online but interrupted the booking process (frankly as I was being a chicken). Gave myself a shake the next morning and went on to book and it said I had missed an appointment. I was able to just go ahead and book though.
