I’m sorting through cupboards. I’m not sure I’ll ever have a use for the following ever again;

Handbags.
Cash (found quite a lots of coins ).
High heels.
Going out clothes.

I now live in yoga pants and trainers. I keep my debit card in my phone case.

AIBU? Grin

I’ve lived in stud earrings and plain gold chain for past year, when I have loads of jewellery. My make up has probably gone off. DH commented on the fact I don’t wear make up anymore, only taken a year.

I’ve used my handbag once when I had a Solicitors appointment, felt weird to be honest. Also wore a pair of proper heeled shoes.

But I’m going to dye my hair this week and try a different style, as DH likes it longer, as do I.

I do think the impact, in terms of the way we spend our money must be so far-reaching....the things I have barely used and may not use again, and the things I have come to rely on. There are obvious ones like fuel, travel, etc. but some less obvious.

Clothing for sure. With so many office workers WFH for over a year (and many not going back in full time), the 'workwear' market must have tanked, whilst as you say leisure wear probably through the roof. And shoes generally, I have worn much less in the last year. Not that I've never been outside, but in the working week I have worn one pair of shoes for the school run, and maybe trainers and outdoorsy boots at the weekend...instead of different shoes for meetings, travelling for work, going out etc. Perfume I have used twice in a year.

Then there are things like childcare and pet care etc.....I saw a story this morning about a lady who had a dog holiday and day care business and had had almost no customers for a year, having been full for the several years before that.

Some things I haven't got used to, with being at home so much....the frequency with which I need to buy coffee and tea, for example.

If it does end up being only two days a week in the office, it will be a long time before I buy any work clothes.

I would never have expected that my casual handbag and purse would see so little use. But although I go out for walks and to shops every day I don’t have the sort of long all day trips I used to which need me to carry paracetamol, sanpro, pen, lip salve, hairbrush, purse full of cards and cash - I just take one credit card, keys and a mask - all my loyalty cards are on my phone.

lipstick... I'll just continue with my Vaseline lip therapy. 😷

Bras. Might not bother with them ever again. I’m an H cup but only wore them out of a (probably misplaced) sense of social respectability. More comfy in a vest top or sleep bra now. As long as I never have to run for a bus or anything.

Same here, have had a massive clear out of clothes recently (M&S take them on behalf of Oxfam in case anyone is interested while the charity shops are closed).

Haven't used any of my nice handbags or scarves (pre covid these were my weakness and I would spend an embarrassing amount on these) or worn jewellery, perfume and makeup (apart from a bit of foundation/concealer) for a year. Not sure when I'll wear them again on a regular basis with WFH here to stay.

Yes yes to binning bras. Me too - I forgot those. Must clean out my underwear drawer.

I attempted to put on the foundation I bought a few weeks before the first lockdown on Saturday and it had gone all separatey and nasty. I think I used it once since last March, on my birthday last August - I went for one drink at our local pub. DH bought me a beautiful antique ring for Christmas 2019 which I've not been able to wear - it's Victorian and has very delicate stones, so an absolute no-no where regular hand sanitising is needed.

I miss stuff like this!

vaxmeup · 29/03/2021 16:37

Nail varnish is another one! Not much point when firstly not really going anywhere and secondly I find hand sanitiser ruins it (I used hand sanitiser before covid but not to this extent!).

I had an emergency doctors appointment on Sunday via 111 , I thought the doctor might need to listen to my chest or have a poke at my lymph glands as several were swollen , so I had to put on a bra and a vest top . I can’t remember the last time I wore a bra, or any underwear that was liable to be inspected!

CentBoppers · 29/03/2021 16:39

I tried to get a refund on my 2020 diary as it was bugger all use, but they weren't having it Grin
