AstraZeneca severe side effects?

Hi all, apologies if this has been asked recently I've been trying to limit my mumsnet usage as it was getting rather high 😳 had my first dose Saturday morning and since about 4pm Saturday I have felt like death. Saturday night had a raging fever and full body aches, tossed and turned all night. Yesterday felt like a zombie, nearly passed out from making a cup of tea so like the worst flu I've ever had and then some. Woken up today and again I feel like there's an elephant sat on my chest/upper body, neck pain and just no energy. Has anyone else felt like this for so long? Everyone says after 24hrs you should feel fine. Was hesitant to have it in the first place and now I do not want the second dose at all.

all in their late 70s

I sympathise, I suffered badly for a good 3 days.

I heard the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine induces really high levels of antibodies so the healthier you are the more side effects. DH isn't as healthy and active as me and didn't have any side effects. But who knows, like PP I am grateful to have had the vaccine.

I k is several people who have felt bad for around 3/4 days afterwards OP. I was bad for about 48 hours. Hope you feel better soon

I had my jab last week, on Tuesday I felt really sleepy and a bit more achy (but I have arthritis) the odd thing is that my carer felt the same and he had his jab a few weeks ago and he had Pfizer and I had Astra Zeneca, so maybe there is something going round

I felt awful for weeks after my first dose (early Feb) and still have a sore jaw. I've got quite a reactive immune system, I've had quite bad reactions to lots of things in my breast cancer treatment. Also, a family history of auto immune things - possibly connected? Apparently, second doses of AZ are not as bad as the first dose, hope not. I'll tell my oncologist about it next time I see him, but I'm not overly worried tbh. I've definitely not had covid - I've been shielding and am now doing regular testing as D2 is at school.

DH had first jab Saturday pm. Early hours of Sunday started with full body aches, fever, no energy, etc. Been off work Monday and Tuesday, felt well enough to go to work today but still not 100%. Leaflet he was given said side effects typically last 24 - 48 hours, but can be up to 7 days.

Oh, and don't know if it's relevant but we both had Covid at Christmas.

I am feeling more human today but still more tired than usual. Hoping it will be up from here! Fingers crossed my second dose isn't as bad!

I’ve never had a reaction to any vaccine before but I had the same reaction to this one as you. However, I have no doubt that actual COVID would be far worse so I have no problem getting the second dose.
