Just interested, are many people going back to the office?

Just interested are many people going back to work in the office in the next few weeks/months and will this be everyday you work or will it be a mixture of wfh and being at the office? For those of you that thought wfh would be a permanent fixture for you is this still the case?
I have been doing a mixture of both since July and will continue to do so, I’m hoping to settle in to 2/3 days wfh and 2/3 days in the office.

I’ve not been back since last March and probably won’t be made to until at least June if not later.
We’ve been told that when we do go back, it’ll be 2 days a week in the office minimum with 3 days wfh if you want to.

Personally I’m happy staying at home permanently but there’s a lot of young people in our office who are desperate to go back so 2 days a week feels like a good compromise.

ScrumptiousBears · 27/03/2021 22:42

At the moment immediate boss says return in June. I'm hoping those above her have other ideas.

AnnaSW1 · 27/03/2021 22:42

Not me. Not been in for a year and no mention by anyone of going back any time soon

Comefromaway · 27/03/2021 22:44

I’ve been back full time since last September. We have a large office anyway and we are not open plan so there is plenty of space for us all.

Feraltomcat · 27/03/2021 22:44

I've been given a wfh contract, I had the option but since the rest of my time will be wfh it seemed a bit pointless me ever going back Grin

There'll be meetings at head office now and again and in time I'll be visiting clients once a month or so it should work out as quite a nice balance.

Feraltomcat · 27/03/2021 22:45

Team will be wfh not time! Blush

JeanClaudeVanDammit · 27/03/2021 22:46

I haven’t been allowed in since 20 March and I’m desperate to go back. Not expecting to go back until July at the earliest, it could be September. We always had the ability to work from home a day or so a week, and I want to do 3 days in the office as a minimum which work have said they will be fine with. Can’t bloody wait, it’s been awful.

RampantIvy · 27/03/2021 22:46

No. Our offices have been demolished. We are all WFH now Sad

BigMamaFratelli · 27/03/2021 22:50

No plans to in the near future, no. Work aren't pushing it, and even if they do I don't plan to do more than 2 days a week in the office again for quite some time. The kids are all primary age and not having to fork out for breakfast/after school clubs has been a godsend! So in no rush to go back to having to pay for those.

My partner is on immunosuppressive drugs so we got told to wfh in mid Feb 2020 too. That combined with working flexi hours has totally changed our work/life balance for the better.

moochingtothepub · 27/03/2021 22:52

I've been in throughout at least a few days a month. I got a new position last month and have been in daily since

FredaFox · 27/03/2021 22:54

I’ve been back maybe once a week between each lockdown and have done the odd day recently
I can’t wait to go back though will probably be back 2/3 days
Work are writing their policy at the moment

ContadoraExplorer · 27/03/2021 22:54

No idea when we'll be back just now but it's likely to be about 50/50 split between office and home, working FT but compressed hours which suits me fine. We polled out staff and the bulk of people want something similar.

TokyoSushi · 27/03/2021 22:55

We've shut our office so WFH 4eva here!

Onedaysomedaynowadays · 27/03/2021 22:57

Going back on Monday! It's voluntary but I'll probably do a couple of days a week from the office.
Long term we're moving to a hybrid 50/50 arrangement

LemonandGingerTeafor2 · 27/03/2021 22:59

Been back in the office since June personal choice WFH is not for me
We are given the choice

RandomMess · 27/03/2021 23:00

I work at uni.
This that are not student facing are WFH until the end of the summer and then the plan is for it to be blended. Means they need less office space, fewer parking spaces too!

RichardMarxisinnocent · 27/03/2021 23:35

I chose to go back to the office last August. Wfh was breaking me. Been in the office fulltime since, other than a couple of days wfh so I could let in essential tradesmen. I sit on my own in an office, in corridor where a handful of others also sit in offices alone. My commute to work is a 15 minute walk so me wfh saved me no money and didn't help the environment in any way.

Ellpellwood · 27/03/2021 23:43

I started a new job in July, 3 days a week. I was in the office until Christmas, did 2 months WFH and am now back in. I hated WFH! Getting out of the house has been a godsend as we have been stuck in the same 4 walls with a toddler the other 4 days a week.

omygoditsearly · 27/03/2021 23:58

I even I'm for the odd week where I needed to be on site. I'm happy WFH and am worried about being forced back in.

Embra · 28/03/2021 00:00

In office full time

NoseinBook3 · 28/03/2021 00:09

I haven’t left my office

TheDukeissoHot1 · 28/03/2021 00:16

Going back to the office next week once ‘stay at home’ advice is lifted. Not my choice, I’m not entirely sure we should be as ‘wfh if you can’ advice still stands. However, I hate wfh - it’s so lonely, so I won’t be complaining!

WithTeaTree · 28/03/2021 00:23

Been WFH since March 2020, although I’ve been going in (voluntarily) about once a fortnight in average to do stuff that’s impractical to do from home.

No word when we’ll be back on a permanent basis but the “return to work” survey was circulated last week. I reckon it’ll be July for most people.

I reckon most of my colleagues (and myself) will go for hybrid working, with 2-3 days WFH.

If my employer went full time WFH, I’d probably look for another job. It’s not for me.

VampireTheBuffetSlayer · 28/03/2021 02:37

I've been wfh during the lockdowns and on a rota in the office one day a week in between. I think once this lockdown lifts that will happen again. There's no room to socially distance everyone I work with in the office so it will have to be staggered. I got rid of my dining room table in January and got a desk which has made me sad, I live in a one bed flat and loved having dinners at my table. It is what it is.

eurochick · 28/03/2021 06:50

I've been wfh since last March with the exception of a specific task I needed to go in for for a few days and one day last September when Boris was encouraging people to go back and then quickly changed his mind. It looks like from the summer the plan is for people to be roughly 50/50, so 2-3 days a week in the office. I'd prefer 1-2. In for a few meetings and events but otherwise at home.
