Had my AZ vaccine at 1pm today. When should I expect any side effects?

Haven't had any yet.

Is it bullshit that adverse reactions mean you have a good immune system?

malaboi · 27/03/2021 19:35

arm a little tender but can ignore that

malaboi · 27/03/2021 19:36

I had mild covid last year and have read if you've had it before your reaction will be on a bigger scale. Have also read the second dose isn't as bad!

I think I had it but it wasn't mild. Had an antibodies test but no antibodies

tootyfruitypickle · 27/03/2021 21:13

Pretty sure I've not had it.

And YES the cold shivers ! I whacked up the heating and put all the blankets over me ! That lasted all day.

Then suddenly got BOILING and dd said wow you're hot, so that was the temperature kicking in.

malaboi · 27/03/2021 21:25

Ha, just had some paracetamol & taken off all my layers as I'm too fecking hot!

1wokeuplikethis · 27/03/2021 22:00

Had mine at 12:30 today and felt ok all day, been out with the kids but started feeling a bit stiff in my joints about 7pm. Now have a thumping headache, and really bad back/pelvic pain which is making me squirmy. Will go to bed soon and hope to sleep it off.

GloveFromAbove · 27/03/2021 22:03

Had mine at 1pm and woke up at 1am shivering with temp. Nauseous and unwell. Fine by morning. Over the next day arm progressively got more and more sore and it’s really painful now. Nothing to see at injection sites but I can hardly lift it above my shoulder, feels like I have been battered on that arm below the injection site.

ThisIsMeOrIsIt · 28/03/2021 07:43

Happy to report having been feeling ill all yesterday, I've now woken feeling fairly normal. Nearly 48 hours after injection.

OliviaBensonsEyebrow · 28/03/2021 12:33

Well 24 hours in, other than being a bit too warm last night and a mildly achey arm, no side effects yet. Hopefully I'm in the clear now.

I've read a couple of things and no side effects could mean my immune system is rubbish or it could just mean I don't have any COVID antibodies. Has anyone got anything factual on this?

A week on and my arm is still so sore and I'm still suffering headaches.

First 72 hours, shivers, then too hot, massive headache and a very strange pain from my navel downwards, a line of pain as if someone was pulling a string every time I took a breath. Bizarre. Off work for two days, exhausted for the rest.

So many of my friends have been ill too. Not nice.

Dugee · 03/04/2021 10:30

I had mine last week. Other than a slightly sore arm for a couple of days, I've had no side effects either.

Does anyone know how long I should be keeping an eye out for blood clots? Is it just after having the vaccine or is the risk of blood clots elevated for a few weeks?

Rainbowsandstorms · 03/04/2021 12:20

I had mine a week ago. I felt a little bit wiped out but much better than I expected. A week on I still don’t have my appetite back and feel a bit thirstier than usual. I was really thirsty the night after mine. I hope it all goes well.

Has anyone else lost their appetite and if so how long did it take to come back?

Rainbowsandstorms · 03/04/2021 12:53

@Dugee it’s 4 to 20 days after vaccination. Here’s a good summary of what to look out for laegemiddelstyrelsen.dk/en/news/2021/danish-medicines-agency-sends-out-updated-letter-to-people-who-have-received-the-astrazeneca-vaccine-within-the-last-14-days/

BurbageBrook · 03/04/2021 12:59

Horrendous side effects the night of vaccine - shaking like a leaf, fever to the point of delirium, chattering teeth under two duvets, waves of muscle spasms and aches beyond anything I’ve ever felt! However by next day just normal flu like symptoms.

stopgap · 03/04/2021 13:22

I had my first dose of Pfizer yesterday around 1pm. I have just a bit of a sore arm.

tootyfruitypickle · 03/04/2021 13:44

I've had a non stop never ending period since my vaccine including with massive clots - I'm ten days in now. I think it is improving, and I also think it's menopausal, it's my first period since august . It started the day before the vaccine and was already ridiculously heavy so I really don't think it's linked. Just thinking about the platelet issue - should I speak to a GP if it's still heavy on Tuesday ?

Cailleach1 · 03/04/2021 13:49

That is probably the best thing to do - like when your children get their childhood vaccinations. Take a preventative paracetamol/ ibuprofen to control temperature, so you at least get a good night's sleep.

Thank you. I've had no side affects at all so far, 9 days in.

TheFastestGirlInTheWorld · 15/04/2021 00:16

I had the jab 2 and a half weeks ago. First 48 hours were flu like symptoms - sweeting, fever, shivering and headache. By the end of first week it was just headaches. By the end of week 2 I now have tingling sensations in one hand when my arm is outstretched, tingling sensations on the back of my head intermittently and a sore leg. It’s all on my left side which is the side I received the jab. I’m going to call the doctors tomorrow.
