Do they send out vaccine invites at the weekend?

Stupid question probably. I’m just getting anxious about not having had an invite yet when almost all of my local friends the same age as me (45) have. I know there’s supposed to be a slowdown from Monday and some local centres have said they’re focusing on second jabs from next week, so it feels as though if I don’t get a text this weekend, I might have to wait until May.

Group 10 here just assuming it's May now at the earliest, the Mr thinks "assume June".

daisiesinmay · 27/03/2021 12:40

I'm resigned to May now too (group 10) hoping for by mid May

Dh git a text on a Saturday , appointment on Sunday a few weeks ago, however focus has shifted onto last of 50+/cv and second jabs for the time being so not sure under 50s will be called just yet.

Quicklytakencorner · 27/03/2021 12:50

@frozendaisy, @daisiesinmay
I’m sorry that you are resigned to waiting, have you tried turning up at a chemist or centre and seeing if they have spares?
Or even do what I have heard some do, which is say you are an unpaid carer?

Davros · 27/03/2021 12:55

Most people I know got the first text via GP on a Monday. I've just had my second jab and it came on a Tuesday. So that was probably just coincidence the first time

WombatChocolate · 27/03/2021 12:57

The unpaid Carer cheats is a real problem. Everyone under 50 could claim to be one and then the whole system will crash and be overrun.

It’s frustrating to wait especially if just under 50, but we need to show some integrity and wait our turns. Many people suggest the over 45s won’t be as long as a month off. Keep distanced from people and wash your hands to keep safe and book when you can, but no via lying.

The website still says over 50.

I’m 48 and got an invite from my gp on Friday, my friend who is registered at the same gp surgery but a year younger got her invite this morning (Saturday) so it appears some gp surgeries are sending out invites at the weekend.

DH is 43 and got a text to book from our surgery last week. He has no underlying health issues as far as we know. I went with him to his appointment and they asked if I wanted it too. I said yes and that’s how I got mine. I’m 40 (just, still can’t get my head around that!) and we’re in Bucks.
