Poor woman. :(
And folk ask why covid controls have made anyone afraid of the police.

BonnieDundee · 26/03/2021 18:29

This has gone too far now. This country is completely fucked upAngry

Teentitansonloop · 26/03/2021 18:31

Awful ! Could we do something to help her pay the fees?

TrustTheGeneGenie · 26/03/2021 18:34

There is just no need for this. Do they seriously have nothing better to do?

AllisoninWunderland · 26/03/2021 18:38

Ridiculous.

What has this country come to?!

IrishMamaMia · 26/03/2021 18:45

It's always a woman aswell, easy target.

Maverickess · 26/03/2021 18:47

Dear God, 82 year olds being knocked out of bed and warned for sitting in their own garden drinking tea, and now care workers in the community fined for eating lunch after a call.
I was always supportive towards the police, and felt they were in an impossible situation. Losing that support real fast.

indy2please · 26/03/2021 18:49

I would ask my employer to ask for it to be revoked. Poor woman, that's awful

Theunamedcat · 26/03/2021 18:51

A woman? Yup easy target male protesters outside a school were allowed to disperse by themselves

Outbutnotoutout · 26/03/2021 18:53

But everyone here is jumping on people for mixing and being out and about during covid. Call the police, get them fined

But when people get fined, it's poor woman, man 🤷‍♀️

Police can't win

DobbyTheHouseElk · 26/03/2021 18:57

Not sure this story is all it’s made out to be. I saw this on FB. The letter that she showed on FB said she gave no reason to the police for being out. She wasn’t exercising. She wasn’t traveling.

The place she was fined at is not near her home or place of work. It’s a very remote place. Something doesn’t add up about this story. Local FB pages thought so too.

The woman wasnt mixing. She was in her car alone. I've never seen anyone on here or in RL saying that someone should be fined for eating a sandwich in their car

XenoBitch · 26/03/2021 19:00

The police issue a lot of fines, but many are overturned. Hopefully this lady will fight it and not have to pay.

She's done nothing wrong though has she? Eating a sandwich in her car alone... What rule does it break?

Don't say distance because there is no law regarding what is local.

Bargebill19 · 26/03/2021 19:04

Poor woman is a key worker. On her legally allowed lunch break - where exactly was she supposed to take it? On the moon? Or was she supposed to not have a lunch break ever....... police are twats in this case.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 26/03/2021 19:07

I didn’t say she’d done anything wrong. Her work and home are nearby to each other. The place she was fined at is a while other place in the wrong direction.

She showed the letter in a Fb group I saw and the letter said she hadn’t said why she was there, so they fined her. The letter didn’t say she was eating her lunch. It said she didn’t give them a reason. There’s been a lot of vandalism at that place recently and the police are trying to stop people congregating there. Local FB pages thought the letter was made up.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 26/03/2021 19:08

She’s had loads of people offer to pay the fine.

So what have they fined her for? They can't fine her for something that is not against the law.
DobbyTheHouseElk · 26/03/2021 19:10

That’s the point and why people were questioning if the letter was real.

middleager · 26/03/2021 19:12

I too am getting increasingly narked that it's usually older women who are targeted.

Oh right I see what you mean!
itsgettingwierd · 26/03/2021 19:26

There is no common sense sometimes.

She was out and about doing her job. Stopped somewhere near her last client for food and drink and a walk and then was going home.

So her travel was essential - it's her job!

We have had same locally but luckily our police are sensible. We have lots of tradespeople who drive to beachfront car parks for their lunch as it's free and public loos are open. What else should they do? It's further to travel back home from a job and out again and many are travelling job to job.

But she wasn’t near her home or work. Totally wrong direction. Very remote spot. Off the beaten track.

She travelled several miles in the wrong direction to this place. But that’s not the point.

MercyBooth · 26/03/2021 19:33

Clap for key workers has become crap on key workers.

Sorry I don't agree. I have deep worries about the way the laser had been created and is used. But if you accept the law, it's got to apply to everyone. There are no exceptions because someone is more deserving. She drove 10 miles to have a sandwich and stretch her legs. Either everyone can do that, or no one can do it. Right now nobody can do it, and this is the law you all uphold. But there's no need to worry. The government are introducing a lovely police state that will last long after lockdown or pandemic. So it'll be like this forever if they choose it to be so.
