Boris touching a baby's hand

Lottle · 25/03/2021 22:36

Just watching the 10 o clock news. Boris was being interviewed. He was playing with a baby at some school/community centre sort of thing. He stroked the baby's hand. How is that ok?! Anyone else see this?

Get a life! Goodness, lockdown has certainly got to some people

Hexuba · 25/03/2021 22:57

If that is what you have worrying you right now, appreciate that there are many in worse situations than you. Even if you don't agree with it, can you do anything to change it?

augustusglupe · 25/03/2021 22:57

It made us laugh. Boris playing with baby, then baby touched Boris's hand, so then Boris put his hands out to pick up baby. Baby thought better of it, turned and crawled away Grin

meow1989 · 25/03/2021 22:58

To be fair, didn't BoJ contract covid soon after boasting about shaking hands with everyone on a ward? I mean I probably wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out but since you did...

ShutDown40 · 25/03/2021 22:59

He is a human being, he will make mistakes, like you probably do too! It's a very instinctive thing to do, especially around young children!

If that is honestly the worst thing he has done recently, he can't be too bad. (It isn't)

I remember when Nicola Sturgeon was spotted at a funeral with her mask down, people went wild for that aswell sigh

Brazilianut · 25/03/2021 23:00

In normal times it’d be fine but OP is correct. This reminds me of how he walked around shaking peoples hands at the start of the pandemic.

Karwomannghia · 25/03/2021 23:01

I agree OP it’s surprising given we’ve all got used to not touching anyone outside our households or bubbles let alone a stranger’s baby!

XenoBitch · 25/03/2021 23:02

Throw the book at him!
FFS, I can't get worked up about this. Is this the level of hysteria we are reduced to now?

kittensarecute · 25/03/2021 23:05

Gosh how DARE he act like a human being, he should be arrested immediately for such a terrible crime(!) Hmm

VenusTiger · 25/03/2021 23:06

Get a grip for the love of god.

VenusTiger · 25/03/2021 23:08

You should perhaps spend some time looking at under 10s and what their immune system does to Covid - you'd be alarmed. They have been found to act as 'barriers' to the virus. One GP said her 2yr old contracted Covid and had a fever "for about an hour" and that her system was "teaming with anti-bodies".
Give this fear stuff a rest please.

barbites · 25/03/2021 23:16

I agree. Had enough of being told exactly what I can do, where I can go, what to wear, who I can see. He should be 2 meters away from the baby shouldn't he? Live by the sword, die by the sword!

SunnySideAndMarmite · 25/03/2021 23:17

Surprised at the responses here.
I agree what's the harm in him touching a baby's hand?
But by the same token we shouldn't be banned from hugging people we love.
If the government are going to make stupid inhumane rules, the least they could do is follow them.
It's not about risk, it's about the breathtaking hypocrisy as people suffer from prolonged separation from loved ones.

Lottle · 25/03/2021 23:17

I just find it hard that my son hasn't seen his grandparents for months due to this man's rules. I commented more for the fact that he's breaking his own rules on TV, than for the covid risk. And if there is no covid risk, why are the rules the way they are.

OP posts:
Lottle · 25/03/2021 23:18

@sunnysideandmarmite thanks for explaining that better than I could put it
@PurpleDaisies well I guess there is always the covid risk. But more that this is the man that has been on the news telling us to keep our distance. Not touch the people we love. Don't let your kids have physical contact with grandparents. Don't shake hands etc. Strict definitions of bubbles and who is allowed hugs and physical contact. Then he does that on TV. I find it strange. Just as I would if he shook an adult's hand.
This. BJ has always been of the 'do as I say, not as I do' camp - this is just another example. Imagine what he would have said if an opposing politician had done this.

WithTeaTree · 25/03/2021 23:20

I think the baby will have instantly contracted covid. Very irresponsible by the Prime Minister - should have elbow bumped him.

Nith · 25/03/2021 23:20

I guess in the case of this baby they probably wiped his hands straight afterwards, so realistically there was no risk.

What rule bans you from hugging people?
barbites · 25/03/2021 23:22

So, to be clear to anyone that thinks this is fine. Social distancing is over now is it? Great, I think it's shit anyway! Or is it just us plebs that have to do it and he doesn't because he's better than us?

You should just hug your loved ones. I pretty much guarantee you won’t be prosecuted.

Agree op.

Jacketpotato84 · 25/03/2021 23:41

He prob would have been tested and tests every day. Maybe it was accidental and he was just being a natural human instinctivly showing affection to a baby. Hasnt he not long had a baby?

Yaya26 · 26/03/2021 00:02

I can see where you’re coming from @PurpleDaisies. It’s so unlike Boris and his mates not to follow what they’re telling the rest of the population to do!! I can’t go beyond my childrens school primary school gates (even with the compulsory mask) I stepped slightly forward (yesterday to meet my 5 year old as he was walking past the school buses alone and I thought I was going to be wrestled to the ground. Imagine if I went in and starting touching a strange child!

SunnySideAndMarmite · 26/03/2021 00:41

XenoBitch What rule bans you from hugging people?

Confused The social distancing rules. Am I missing something?

I am hugging people who are happy to hug. But I thought I wasn't supposed to be!

Sadly the little ones I was close to (babysitting frequently, going on holiday together, closer than my own family) barely know me any more as parent super strict and hasn't let me near them, lest I accidentally touch a hand and kill them.
