Late period and astrazeneca vaccine

I was on my period when I had the AZ vaccination last month. Period now almost a week late, I'm normally like clockwork, no weight loss/gain etc and not pregnant. I'm 31. Could this be related? I had quite a bad reaction - chills, fever, swears, nausea and felt rough for 3 days.

Ladies I had period pains for 2 weeks and no period. But finally after 10 days had my period. Very heavy! I hope my next one is not this messy in terms of timing and literally.

Walkaround · 26/04/2021 22:28

Interestingly, the exact same issue with periods has been mentioned multiple times on mumsnet by people who had covid, so it's not exclusive to the vaccine.

Username916 · 27/04/2021 06:32

This is really interesting. I had a Pfizer vaccine, I've had both doses now. My periods are normally insanely heavy and painful but the last 2 months I've just spotted. Very bizarre for me. Hard to get upset about it though as my heavy periods have a huge affect on my life so it has been an interesting experience to not suffer it!

I had my jab when I was due and I have since not had a period. I am not sure what to do. Has anyone with a delay started there period ?

purplehulahoop · 16/05/2021 10:32

I had a really heavy period a month after my pfizer.
Had 2nd jab Wednesday, came on that night (4 days early) not so heavy but horrendous pain/cramps, face full of spots and really sore boobs. I never usually get that! It's been so weird! I can't wait for it to stop. Mine are usually done in 3/4 days this one is day 4 but hardly any blood. Never had anything like this one before.

Coming up for third missed period since vaccine 😐

Endofether · 24/05/2021 11:13

Jeez am booked for my first Pfizer this week, not gonna have it after looking at the reported side effects !

MrsWhites · 24/05/2021 12:43

Interesting that someone else has mentioned sore boobs, I’ve seen that a few times on here in the last few weeks. I had Pfizer vaccine last week, period due this week and my boobs are ridiculously painful!

Mulberry974 · 24/05/2021 14:02

It seems it isn't specific to covid vaccines, flu and HPV vaccines can also affect menstrual cycles.

Creamteasandsunshine · 24/05/2021 14:34

My daughter and I have both had covid. It never affected our cycle although I am aware that the illness has with others. I don’t want either of us to have the vaccine especially after reading threads like this 😟

My friend got mastitis for first time ever after AZ (and she has done a LOT of bf-ing)

BogRollBOGOF · 24/05/2021 15:16

I'm in my second cycle since A-Z. First was as usual. This one has been a few days late and more sore and heavy than normal. Annoyingly I've got a smear test booked and I'm just hoping it's out of the way in time. It was fine based on.my usual dates.

ChaToilLeam · 24/05/2021 15:25

I had AZ, my period came the day after, about 10 days early and VERY heavy. No other symptoms other than a bit of tiredness.

Still going to get 2nd dose. I’d rather have a heavy period than Covid.

misskatamari · 24/05/2021 16:23

I had my first dose 16 March. Next two periods were normal, but I've just started bleeding today on day 20 of my cycle. No idea if it's related, as I've had normal periods since, but adding incase anyone else experiences similar. I'm prone to health anxiety so a bit freaked out that I'm randomly bleeding when I'm not due on for over a week. Normally really regular

booboobutt · 24/05/2021 19:38

@TierdOfLockdown where did you get that chart from? I'd like to look at it properly but it's blurry when I try to zoom in. Thank you.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 14/06/2021 00:23

My periods have been bang on every 29 days for years (use a tracker).
However since I've had my AZ jabs they're now 2 weeks late everytime. (So I'm having a 6 week cycle rather than a just over 4 week cycle)

Rpblc09 · 27/06/2021 16:57

I had my jab last June 18 and my expected period was last June 21, now I am 9 days late. All of my PT tests were negative. I still have sore breasts and mild cramps. I pray that my period would come soon, this makes me uncomfortable.

user1468739797 · 05/07/2021 15:21

Hi there, I had my first dose of Astra Zeneca on 19 June and my period has started yet. I’m now 11 days late. Can anyone let me know how things have gone for them? Feeling anxious. TIA
