Travelling between Scotland and Northern Ireland

I am planning a short trip to Northern Ireland in May once the restrictions ease. However I have work colleagues who have taken several trips over and back this last month or so...
( I think they must have been bending the rules as technically only essential travel is allowed at present).
However someone pointed out today that if they travel between the two areas, and intend to stay more than 24 hours, they need to self isolate for ten days.

Can anyone confirm that for me please? I assumed as ( although we are under restrictions so all travel must be justified) there would be no need to self isolate as it isn't travel internationally?

No I don’t think you have to self isolate for domestic travel only international.

I did find this on the NI government page. Which really surprised me, as I'd not heard this publicised before...

Woops well I honestly didn’t think that was the case!

It’s really quite confusing especially if your travelling over the boarder from Ireland to NI 🤦‍♀️

I know. It's very confusing. Looks like it's advice rather than guidance

It's advice. Nobody is taking any notice of it but as NI is still locked down it's not like people are exactly partying anyway. Mostly.

I was hoping to go home to Scotland from NI for Easter, that’s obviously not happening now, but I will be going when travel is permitted - hoping for May. Haven’t seen my family for so long, and know practically no one here so it’s been a pretty lonely and isolated year.

The 10 days is guidance, not a legal requirement. Hoping a third wave doesn’t scupper things as I don’t know how long my sanity can take it.
