Taking DS with me to get vaccine

Cityzen74 · 22/03/2021 17:03

I have received a text saying I can book my vaccine. The only times available are when I would have to take my DS who is 3 with me. Am I allowed to do this or is it up to the individual centre? Obviously I will try to find out but wondered if anyone else had taken their DC with them? Thanks Smile

No, you will not be allowed to bring him.

Druidlookingidiot · 22/03/2021 17:07

I'm sure you won't be allowed to take him. When I went, they turned a woman away who had a baby, stressing the no children rule.

A friend who is single parent had her DC with her. DC is teenager but has disability so can’t be left at home. No one told her anything.

I don’t believe that they would turn people away. We are in pandemic, you can’t just ask another mum in a playgroup to have your child for an hour. How are single parents are supposed to cope? Go without vaccination?

Maybe their gp could arrange to do it at the surgery? Of course they're going to turn people away from the vaccine centre if they turn up with 3 year olds.

Both centres that I volunteer at don't mind if a parent on their own brings their child(ren) in with them.

minniemoocher · 22/03/2021 17:22

There was a baby in a pushchair when I went but the person was attending the cv clinic

Cityzen74 · 22/03/2021 18:00

Thanks for your replies. I will try to phone the centre and ask Smile

I volunteer at a vaccine centre. I've not been instructed to turn people away if they have a child with them.

TimeForLunch · 22/03/2021 18:06

I also volunteer at a vaccination centre and someone came in with their partner and toddler. It was absolutely fine and the toddler was a welcome distraction!

KnowlWay · 22/03/2021 18:08

Someone had a toddler with them at mine last week. Completely fine. Good luck.

SimonJT · 22/03/2021 18:10

I took my five year old, my partner and I booked our appointments about 30 minutes apart so we could swap him over, but the staff who saw them waiting together invited them in early.

ShipOfTheseus · 22/03/2021 18:12

There were a couple of small children there when I had mine. Maybe it’s down to the centre.

dottiedaisee · 22/03/2021 18:14

Yes you definitely can take children with you . My daughter had her vac and had her toddler with her .

Barbie222 · 22/03/2021 18:20

I am not aware of anyone who's been turned away for this reason. Now that we are vaccinating younger groups this would be ridiculous.

pipsqueakbollock · 22/03/2021 18:28

I had mine on 5 Feb. There was a toddler there then.

happytoday73 · 22/03/2021 18:31

I also volunteer at a vaccination centre.. We avoid extra people going in where can but do not turn away carers or babies/children being cared for.. I've also looked after a few dogs 😍

2boysand1princess · 22/03/2021 18:39

I had ds with me when I got my vaccine. Dh and other dc were waiting in car for me, but he refused to let me go alone. Started having a massive tantrum so I took him in with me. No issues.

teafor1 · 22/03/2021 18:46

I also work at a vaccination centre and children are fine!

Cityzen74 · 22/03/2021 19:20

That’s great news 😀. Sounds like I should be able to take him so will book it. Thanks for your replies Smile

I volunteer at a vaccination centre. You will be quite welcome to attend with your child in tow. We wouldn't turn anyone away due to lack of child care.

katkit · 22/03/2021 21:25

I took my child; they were very welcoming.
