How do I reassure my child when I feel hopeless

Dd is 15 and has ASD, she suffers from low moods. Lockdown has made this worse than ever before.

She has fallen down the internet rabbit hole and has become obsessed with the future looking like a handmaids tale/post apocalyptic war zone.

I’m trying to reassure her and tell her to hold on a little bit more. She refuses to come out of her room except for school, but she says there is no point in trying for exams there isn’t going to be a world left soon.

I don’t know how to help her or reassure her when I feel like things are pretty bleak myself at the moment.

That's a hard situation to be in. Who else have you got living at home? What are their moods like?

I think you need to validate her anxiety but also, is there something you can do (just you 2) to distract from the news? Maybe agree to switch off the internet/news for a couple of hours?

Is her bedroom due a redecoration?
