Who has tested positive for Covid AND then had the vaccine?

DH and I have been invited to have the Covid vaccine yayyyy.

We both tested positive for Covid three weeks ago, and were both pretty ill (he was worse than me, and ended up being taken to hospital and given fluids through a drip). Both now almost fully recovered but still v tired etc.

I know that we can't get the vaccine for 28 days after testing positive / onset of symptoms. Does anyone know if there is an optimal time to wait? Neither of us are keen to experience heavy-duty side effects from the vaccine when our immune systems are still revering from Covid. Also, presumably we would have some immunity now anyway? Neither of us wants to catch Covid again and will definitely have the vaccine but want to do it at the right time if possible ... Any advice welcome!

I don’t know the answer to your question but I had my first vaccine exactly 29 days after I had my positive COVID result.

I should have added - I felt a bit ropey for maybe a week after my vaccine but didn’t get the bad side effects that a large number of my colleagues did. My actual COVID was very mild symptoms also.

A girl in work tested positive at Xmas and had the vaccine last week and had no side effects at all. She had really bad COVID and has only just come back. Another girl had COVID in November and had abit of a reaction to the vaccine so I just don't think you can tell

Thanks both. I'm 90% sure I'm just going to say "sod it" and book the vaccine for 28 days (or as soon as possible after) after my positive Covid test result, and dose up on paracetamol and ride out any side effects if they are bad!

My DM had Covid. Sadly she caught it again six weeks later. Still unable to have the vaccine.

If I have mine 29 days after testing positive, it will be April 1st Grin

My surgery is currently booking slots for 27th March so hopefully they will release the April slots online soon.

Sorry to hear about your mum @StopGo. Hope she gets her vaccine soon.
