Parents and adult members of households/bubbles of children in nursery and registered childcare in England are suppose to do twice weekly lateral flow tests as well as school children.

If you can't get the tests from work then you either:

  1. Pick them up from a test site. You just state how many adults are in your household/bubble and they will give you a box of tests for each adult.
  2. Get them sent to you by post.

You don’t have too, it’s completely voluntary.

I’ve got a pre-schooler and have been doing them since they got released but my OH isn’t. Mostly as he has the worlds worst gag reflex & the PCR tests have made him throw up a couple times in the car 🙈 So I don’t really blame him! But I’m happy to do them so I will..

They are voluntary for primary school kids as well, but many people don't know that nurseries and registered childcare are included in the same category.

Well I went to get some tests (I only get enough for myself - nhs worker - not entire household) and they'd run out!!

I'm not sure why they can't be sent to schools to send home with the kids? Rather than everyone in the area going to one site who've run out

Haven't got an issue with doing it at all tho

@HolmeH I'm the same as your husband, so I just do both nostrils well.

Ooh, any idea when this changed? It certainly wasn't the case to start with, so we've been going to the local LFT centre each week before our toddler goes back to nursery.

@Flev nurseries and early years have always been an add on for this government.
