Do you think it’s ok to get a test regardless of symptoms?

I know there have been loads of threads of shall I take a test the past 12 months . I’ve been unless you have symptoms then no .
But do you think now that so many have been vaccinated and so many have weekly tests is it ok when you are feeling a bit unwell but don’t have the main symptoms? My dh thinks not but I disagree now mainly because where I live the cases are still high so I feel that you should be able to take a test if needed . My dc is in school and can take a test every week regardless of symptoms so why can’t my adult dc ?
And the main 3 symptoms, temperature, cough loss of taste aren’t always what people have .
So what do others think do you think you should be able to get a test whenever you want or if feel unwell or no do you think only if you have the symptoms?

Just go to your local closest rapid test venue, free lateral flow tests.

I don't think there's any shortage of tests now but I'm not quite comfortable with taking up resources just because you fancy a test. That sounds a little selfish, I'm a bit on the fence but slightly more with your DH

It’s not for me but yes home test ordered.
This person doesn’t have the main symptoms the question was do people go and get tested just for feeling a little unwell not shall I get a test .

If your child is in secondary school in England family members can get lateral flow tests to do at any time - does that apply to you

TheBigBaboon · 19/03/2021 17:50

Yes. I tested with a headache and sore throat.

I was positive.

Includes primary school.

There are also lots of testing sites now for people without symptoms so they can be checked out.

It’s not just secondary schools. It’s families & support bubbles, including childcare bubbles that can access the lateral flow tests. My child is pre-school & we & my parents in our bubble are taking tests twice a week now.

I tested positive on a PCR test with no main symptoms. I just felt a bit peculiar & really warm but no actual fever. My temp was up from 36.5 to 37.4 & my child was due to go to my parents for childcare..

megletsecond · 19/03/2021 18:08

Yes. All along I've thought people should get a test if unwell. Not just the ridiculously short official symptom list.

I had none of the main symptoms at any point. I was positive.

islockdownoveryet · 20/03/2021 17:38

So the home tests arrived after we ordered yesterday . 3 out of 4 negative and one positive.
So glad I’ve found out that the whole household can get tests if dc in school . Thanks
