ill start this by saying i have rang 111 and am waiting for call back but i stupidly googled shit and now am i a bit panicky so am wondering if anyones had a sharp, quite severe headache around the eye area and not had to go into hospital

i was hit pretty badly on sun with side effects, so much so that i couldnt get out of bed all day.
most have gone apart from this headache and a bit of blurry vision. i do suffer from headaches quite bad but this is a totally different one that even my tramadol doesnt touch and it works on my normal ones

the headache is less than it was sunday but its still bad but i can still do most things, just have to take a break after 20 mins or so on the pc, i dont watch tv so dont know about that

yeah im rambling to pass time but as i say wondered if any one has good simple outcome stories?

Pleased you've spoke to someone and I hope you feel better soon.

ConeHat · 18/03/2021 21:57

I'm.on day 8 of a headache. My doc is worried and said if I'm sick I must not delay and seek help asap.

But I also have high blood pressure. I have to max out on pain killers and reassess on Monday

holliejollies · 18/03/2021 22:04

I had Covid and that headache lasted 8 weeks. I then was fine till I had the jab, when it came back for 24 hours. It's horrible, you have my sympathy Thanks

Workinghardeveryday · 18/03/2021 22:09

Took me a good 3 weeks to get over my jab, not headache though, that went after 48 hours, just felt wiped out totally all the time. Hope you feel better soon, try not to worry xx

minniemoocher · 18/03/2021 22:12

I've got a headache, had it since Monday. Dr not concerned but all the AZ stuff in the news is concerning me, I was vaccinated last Friday

AppleBlueBerryPie · 18/03/2021 22:18

Trigger warning for information that might not be reassuring but will be important. OP please skip this if you already feel better and don't want to be stressed by further anxiety!

However just in case anyone else came across this thread with similar symptoms, please read this which is something that is NOT being reported by most UK media outlets due to obvious reasons. In Germany and Austria, people are now being asked to closely monitor their health 4-5 days after getting AstraZeneca for any potential signs of clotting issues. Complications are extremely rare which is why the AZ vaccine program is still going however there is a lot of media info on how to spot signs of thrombosis, specifically those that have showed up recently.

In Germany there has been 6 cases of sinus vein thrombosis and 1 case of brain aneurysm following AZ, which was the cause for the temporary investigation. It wasn't just "people getting blood clots which happen all the time anyway" but a very specific and fairly rare type of clot in the sinus vein around the nose/eyes. All the cases occurred between 4-16 days after the vaccine and sadly 3 were fatal.

Here's the article in German in a reputable medical journal:
www.aerzteblatt.de/nachrichten/122083/Thrombosefaelle-nach-Astrazeneca-Impfung-Impfstopp-ist-umstritten

This quote translated says that people who experience intense and persistent headaches after the 4th day post AZ must seek medical care immediately. Another symptom to watch out for is pinpoint bleeding under the skin.

Eifhe3221 · 18/03/2021 22:55

That is being reported by the media here. Seek medical attention if you have a headache that goes on longer than four days, or bruising beyond the injection site, is what we've been told. I assume that's why the OP rang 111 in the first place.

dividedwefall · 18/03/2021 23:00

Honestly I wouldn't listen to that Doctor. It's now all over the news about seeking urgent medical attention if the headache remains after four days.

Is the headache around your eyes/nose/sinuses? I would consider going to hospital if so.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 18/03/2021 23:06

I would ring A&E and ask to be checked. I don't think that Dr can categorically say you are fine.

polyjuicepotion · 18/03/2021 23:20

Please consider going to an A&E. Don't wait for it to get worse. Hopefully it's nothing to worry about, but if it is you need to be assessed immediately.

TunMahla · 19/03/2021 07:16

I concur with others, you should go to the hospital as a precautionary measure. I dom't think the doc you spoke to is on top of the latest news.

confuseddotcom090 · 19/03/2021 07:19

Make sure you do the yellow card report. So few people do, and it's really important that all new vaccines are properly characterised.

Hope you are feeling better today.

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 19/03/2021 07:58

I agree with going to a and e with this.

At the briefing tonight they said to seek urgent medical attention.

GPs are not always right.

Hopefully in this case they are and the hospital will give you the all clear

NicoleKidmanSuperFan · 19/03/2021 12:55

@dawnc27 hope your feeling better. Keep us posted x
