7-10 working days to add to group 6?

Is this right? I'm clinically vulnerable. Couldn't book local vaccine via GP as I'm not at home (staying with family). GP sent link for national booking but forgot to change my code to group 6. They've now done this but I'm being told it will take 7-10 working days (so 2 weeks) to update on the system.

Is this right? They originally told me 48 hours latest. A friend was updated within 24 hours, and I know that over 50s can book as soon as it gets to their age group.

I would just try a few times each day on the national booking site. It doesn’t matter where you are, you just put in the postcode where you want to have vaccine.

Thanks. I don't think it will work. Think my GP has entered the code wrong or not at all. I should register as a temporary patient where I'm staying but current GP says I'll be deregistered if I do. I can book tomorrow in my home area, which is frustrating. I'll give up trying for now as it's causing me too much stress.

I'm in a similar position- gp added me to group 6 last week. I called the vaccination booking service and it seems like younger, clinically vulnerable people don't just get to book, we have to wait until we get called. Very annoying as all over 50s can just use the website but the woman I spoke to said it will be another week or two until they get to everyone.
It's very frustrating, especially with the news about shortages.

Basically the NHS system communicates with the GP system once or twice a week so the new code will be picked up whenever the synchronisation next happens. I think we often don't know what day that will be so they may have said that to be safe. In your position, I'd just keep checking the online booking screen once a day and at some point it'll suddenly let you book.

Oh thank you for this. That makes sense ( I mean, it also doesn't, it's bonkers, but...) Will keep trying

I had to show the text inviting me to book 3 times on the way round, so you might want to wait for that anyway. The slow down sounds worrying, but there are still vaccines coming through and you'll be taken into account, don't worry.

I spoke to a receptionist at my doctors today. Apparently the two systems don't sync up in a normal way, the vaccination database has to run a search for the eligible patients and it doesn't do it that often, probably only once a week. So hopefully they should get on to the system soon.

lookingformyleopard · 22/03/2021 11:36

@Group6CantBook
Have you managed to book a vaccination yet? It's been a week now and I'm still not on the system so I have no idea what's going on 🤷‍♀️

Group6CantBook · 22/03/2021 19:47

Hi @lookingformyleopard
I decided to tick unpaid carer to book (then show proof of being in group 6 if asked at the centre) but now all my local centres are booked up! It's worth a try as yours might have availability.

If not, try calling local vaccine centres to ask if they'll put you on standby list. I spoke to my GP during a routine appointment today. They suggested I did this as there's often last minute spares because of no shows.

@Group6CantBook
I am tentatively hoping that this has worked. I phoned my local ccg after seeing a few other people on Twitter having similar problems. I expected them to be annoyed I had phoned after all the messages not to contact about vaccines. But they were really helpful and said they would pass my details on to the local vaccination team.
It's probably worth a try for you.

Everywhere seems slightly different! I phoned GP 10:30 Friday morning to check whether I should be in group 6 - I hadn’t realised that due to my medical history around blood clots I should have been (I was happy to wait my turn was just querying) & had my vaccine at 12: 30 the same day.

lookingformyleopard · 23/03/2021 13:11

Wow, that was lucky!
It just seems like a few people's records are just not linking up either with the national vaccine database or the local one. It's really frustrating now
