DS2 at secondary negative lateral flow but now has symptoms?

Just want to check I’m doing the right thing?

Whole household did lateral flow tests yesterday - all negative.

DS2 came home today and went to sleep, now has a temp and says his body feels weak. Booked him in 8am tomorrow at drive through test site.

Am I right in that the rest of us isolate til he gets the result?.

Thanks.

Yes.

Yes, I think I read the lateral flow tests aren't totally accurate

Whyarewehardofthinking · 15/03/2021 19:48

Yep. The LFTs have poor accuracy and could have missed him bring infected. Happened to my DP

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 15/03/2021 19:48

Definitely. Hope he’s ok OP.

Jungfraujoch · 15/03/2021 19:52

Thanks all. Fingers crossed he’s not got it as both DH and I due to have our first jabs this week!

Yes absolutely. The lateral flow tests miss a high percentage of positives but catch some cases that would be missed so it’s a PCR test if he’s symptomatic. I really hope he’s negative and you can both have your vaccinations.

DS had his test at 8am. Waiting for result - he still feels tired but has logged on for school today and been working (Yr11), bless him.

Just told me his sense of taste has gone funny! Marvellous!

If you and/or DH end up positive, you need at least 28 days between your positive test and your vaccination.

Yes I know - a friend was worried about hers a while back as the jab date was exactly 28 days! She checked with GP and was fine to have it.

My dd started with symptoms at the weekend and had a negative test (stupidly fast results - eleven hours in the end but keep an eye on your emails; we got the email at 10pm and the text at 6am the next morning). I kept her off anyway yesterday and today but she’ll be going back tomorrow (she’s bouncing off the walls again now!). I’ve had a few people say the same so there’s clearly a few things doing the rounds.

Fingers crossed your ds gets a negative.

Jungfraujoch · 17/03/2021 14:45

DS is negative! Bit weird given he had some of the classic symptoms but I checked with 119 and they said go b6 the test result.

So I’ve had my jab so am happy!
