Just thought I'd share that there have 0 positive tests in my children's school all week! Something positive to read for a change!
@PatriciaHolm do you have a link to the source for those numbers, please?
Thank you very much.
The data is all on the Gov dashboard - you have to change the location to England.

coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/cases?areaType=nation&areaName=England

NiceTwin · 12/03/2021 21:16

1750 pupils, roughly 200 not consented to testing.
Zero positives.

Do I believe the school is Covid free? Absolutely not.
In the community, we have always been one of those with a high rate. Apart from July and August last year, we were under local restrictions before this latest lockdown.
If we get to Easter vivid free, I will eat my hat Grin

NiceTwin · 12/03/2021 21:16

Covid, not vivid.

Dolan · 12/03/2021 21:21

1100 tests this week and one positive. I was the processor.

bathsh3ba · 12/03/2021 21:22

80% of my DDs' school consented to tests and zero positives for the first week.

Lanzo · 12/03/2021 21:34

If you look at the number of cases in most areas, this is not surprising.

Bing12 · 12/03/2021 21:35

Not entirely good news.... Lateral flow tests are picking up way less positives than ONS survey data says they should do, so they’re missing lots of cases.

Northernsoulgirl45 · 12/03/2021 22:09

Not aware of any at dds secondary school. One case at Primary but no idea if LFT or PCR.

AmelieTaylor · 12/03/2021 22:13

@pipsqueakbollock

I work in a school. I have Facebook groups with members across the whole uk. No one has had any positive results.
Maybe they sent out dud tests to all schools 🤣

We've had 2 in year 10.

Friend has had 20/800 no consent
5 positive LFT
10 families isolating

The figures in that article are in line with case numbers in my area.

33 per 100000 cases in my area
So 99 per 300000 x 2 (to factor in half being false positives) and you should have about 198 positive tests per 300000.

The article says 189 positive cases were found in 300000. Seems remarkably accurate.

Maybe I have gone wrong somewhere!

Verite1 · 12/03/2021 22:46

Are most schools giving the results? Our local ones don’t seem to be.

Bunnybigears · 12/03/2021 22:48

If a child has a positive LFT then a negative PCR do all their close contacts still need to isolate? DSs school has 1 positive test and sods law DS is a close contact and now at home for 10 days.

MargaretThursday · 12/03/2021 23:24

No positives in ours so far. Large secondary around 2k pupils.
However in the one up the road that is much smaller (about 1/3 the size) I believe they had none in the first round then on the second round got 2 in one form.

We're in a very low area-less than 25/100k.

chipsandgin · 12/03/2021 23:40

I wish we’d had the same! 1200 kids in DS1’s school and 8 positive cases from the lateral flow tests this week - so the whole sixth form and one of the other years are now home...again. This is in an area which only had 25 cases per 100k last week so it was surprising & really disappointing. It is slightly reassuring to read that everywhere else didn’t get similar though.

Cloudyrainsham · 13/03/2021 00:41

Our school have carried out over 3500 tests. No positives. They only had 15 positive cases between Sept and Dec. The kids have had 2 tests now.

Cloudyrainsham · 13/03/2021 00:42

@chipsandgin - do they send the whole year group home? Our school only send close contacts hime.

Rockbird · 13/03/2021 02:47

One positive in DD1's class yesterday so the whole class is isolating. 1500 kids.

WindFlower92 · 13/03/2021 08:10

No positives. And then one case on Friday with a test done for symptoms!

Violetlavenders · 13/03/2021 08:12

No positives at our school either.

But then cases in our area have gone right down and most families are sticking to the rules (no meeting others etc)

Thedogshow · 13/03/2021 08:16

Same in our school according to email from the head. Everyone tested 2x this week (2400 pupils) all negative.

WhenSheWasBad · 13/03/2021 08:19

No positive LFTs all week but then 10 positive proper tests on Thursday

That’s alarming. We’ve also had a negative LFT that was actually positive on a PCR test.

But we’ve also had positive LFTs (confirmed by PCR). They were completely asymptotic.

skeggycaggy · 13/03/2021 08:20

No positive tests at our school of 1500 kids either. I don’t know how many took the tests but the headteacher says ‘a majority’ in his letter home about it.

Midlifephoenix · 13/03/2021 08:26

850 kids, no idea how many teachers and support staff, three rounds of tests, zero positives.
All these posts should put an end to the fears of false positives too - they may happen, but incredibly rarely it seems.

PrimulaAuricula · 13/03/2021 08:33

Our school has had a small number of positives . 1400 kids. Lots of positive cases last term
