Are you not able to get time off to go? I imagine all companies will be thrilled to have their staff vaccinated. At the very least ask if you can go.

My manager is very much a person that likes lots of warning which I didn’t even get myself as I got the text this morning.

It’s medical and I always thought you were allowed to attend appointments etc. Especially if it’s in the national interest to do so. It’s 20 mins plus travelling time you are asking for - not a while afternoon.
You would have to give notice if you broke your arm and couldn’t work etc etc..

changingnames786 · 12/03/2021 15:51

Put your foot down, it's a national vaccination programme in the middle of a global pandemic, the NHS can't bend the rules to give you lots of notice because your manager is a tool.

Floralnomad · 12/03/2021 15:51

Just go for the vaccine your manager will have to make an exception to their usual rules on plenty of notice .

vroc81 · 12/03/2021 16:18

As a manager I’d be sending you on your way, offering someone to drive you if need be and juggling things round to cover that afternoon and the following day (just in case you have any side effects as a few people I know have)..

Though as it turns out weirdly all the staff that have had them have so far done them on a Saturday so haven’t disturbed work at all...!

Cookerhood · 12/03/2021 16:19

Of course you can get another appointment. (But your manager should let you go anyway)

duckme · 12/03/2021 16:47

Surely your manager would be very eager to get the workforce vaccinated. I know mine is! Also, if they called me at 3am and told me to get down to the vaccine centre, I'd do it! Nothings going to stop me when I get the call! Grin

Letshavesometea · 12/03/2021 16:58

Thats ridiculous, why are you even thinking about this. Tell your manager you will be nipping out to the the vaccine.

Nobody is getting much notice

Lurkingforawhile · 12/03/2021 17:00

Yes, I know others have rearranged. Some weren’t able to make it as they were self isolating etc. My work has been brilliant and said anyone can go in work time and no need to make up the time. I hope your manager will be the same.

butterry · 12/03/2021 17:06

You should go, it's a medical appointment and why would you miss this opportunity. How did you receive the appointment? If it's through your GP then I call them and see if you can rearrange.

minniemoocher · 12/03/2021 17:07

Most gps are offering weekends and if you go to the mass centre there's plenty of weekend options, dp is going on a Sunday

Cookerhood · 12/03/2021 17:21

Just book on line or through 119.
Weekend GP clinics? Our GP has had 2 deliveries (& therefore 2 days of vaccinating at the local hub), one in February & one in March!
Most people here just book on line otherwise we'd still be on the over 75s.
