We're winning against the virus, amazing stats from USA

CDC reports lockdowns and masks in the USA resulted in an awesome 1.8% decrease in covid cases (not deaths) after 100 days! And even though:

During the study period, states allowed restaurants to reopen for on-premises dining in 3,076 (97.9%) U.S. counties. Changes in daily COVID-19 case and death growth rates were not statistically significant 1–20 and 21–40 days after restrictions were lifted.
(CDC Weekly / March 12, 2021 / 70(10);350–354)

...I think it's too early to be careless.

Wahoooo! TRIUMPH!

Bet the virus doesn't know what's hit it, can't wait for my September booster, and we might avoid any mutations if we stay in lockdown just to be safe. I'm celebrating hard after seeing that!

Who's with me? :)

@Florelei It's not sarcasm, they're winding you up.

Not sure the CDC could get away with being sarcastic Hmm

And it is thought one in 50 people in private households in England had the virus last week - rising to one in 30 in London.

Wow. Good job they can get the jab so they'll be protected and won't get it again.

I am so confused by this thread.....

BritWifeinUSA · 11/03/2021 21:31

If masks “saved” 86 lives in the UK I’ll wager the lockdowns caused more than 86 suicides and murder-suicides.

Does MN ban posters who are incoherent? It might be something they should start.

I think you're right @unfortunateevents. I've just been reading another thread and they're either pissed, on a wind up or both!

Pinksparklepussycat Does it involve a pallet delivery?! I am beginning to wonder if it's a full moon.

Veuvestar · 11/03/2021 22:32

Are we supposed to be getting really excited about a decrease of 1.8% Covid deaths in 100 days in the US?

I do not have Aspergers and also find it difficult to distinguish.

AlandAnna · 11/03/2021 22:40

Eh?

KatyNonRoyal · 11/03/2021 22:49

My friend on here (won’t say her name) emailed me to say it looks like Mumsnetters think the numbers aren’t high enough (?!?!!!) like 1.9% reduction in deaths prevented by masks and lockdowns (DEATHS!) are not good enough, so we shouldn’t be wearing masks and doing lockdowns.

I really never thought people would or could be that selfish.

(2 masks give 85% MORE protection which is like 3.33%!) Feel like I walked into a convention of ghouls or something lol smh.

Also apparently Neil Ferguson got bird flu a bit wrong ONE time out of all his other amazing work stopping CJD and Mad Cow www.theguardian.com/world/2005/sep/30/birdflu.jamessturcke and ever since then the conspiracists are just saying if you’re not stepping over bodies to get to the shops, there’s no real problem and you should just breathe freely all over people and not get your biannual covid-stopping a8$-kicking viral-slaying jabs.

I was excited to see CDC stats.

I posted them, then I posted links and more data on lives saved in the UK by masks & lockdown (86 loves saved, 86 families not left bereaved!).

Mumsnetters like doom so were disappointed to see the figures didn't have more deaths, apparently. I am confused too. Yours, confused Katy...

OP posts:
KatyNonRoyal · 11/03/2021 23:15

loves saved meant lives^ lol but what is life, if not love? Unless you're a Trump fan and hate the 1.9% lives saved by simply being less selfish...
