If you caught Covid just under 2 weeks post first vaccination

Would the vaccine help?

I’ve read there’s no protection at all until around day 14 where it begins to increase and reaches 80% ish around day 21.

If hypothetically you caught Covid on day 10 post first vaccine, do we think the vaccine would be of any benefit, seeing as you’d still be in the incubation period for a few days?

Or even further back really. Day 7 post vaccine, perhaps.

Just curious.

In the trials they started seeing some reduction in cases after two weeks. Given the incubation period of the virus that would probably correlate with some immunity in some subjects starting at day 10-12 post vaccination.

I think it would probably start to help after about a week and immunity gradually rises from there but bare in mind from getting symptoms you were likely infected 5 days ish before. DP has just recovered from covid, was quite ill eg in bed for week off work for 2.5 and had the vaccine 3 weeks prior so am assuming caught it 2 weeks ish after vaccination.

My DA and DU caught it off either their DS or DDIL. My Auntie had her her vaccine 15days before. She felt like she had an awful cold, but the other three had symptoms far worse. In fact, DU been in hospital, rehabilitation, had carers in on returning home and still hasn't been out ten weeks later.
