Stupid international travel rules for students

This is not a student bashing thread. I work in H E and the majority of students like the rest of the population are being sensible IME.

One of my students is looking to return to uni from his home country in Europe. We're practical course so blended approach. I was checking up on rules and it seems to me that he would be required to isolate on arrival but could do this at a UK address OR hotel.

In theory then, he can come back to accommodation that he shares with other students..then isolate but they would be able to come and go!! Wtf. What's the point! Scotland are stricter I think. Useless English gov or have I got this wrong?Confused

Sorry..if wasn't clearly written...I mean he would have to self isolate but not his housemates

They do have to have a negative test before flying though, and then to have three further PCR tests so presumably if they test positive everyone in the household has to quarantine.

Ah ok @titchy... they'd be very popular then if they did test positive on their return! 😬
