Family travelling from overseas

When (assuming things don't get pushed back) will it be legal for family from the US to come and stay? There are three things to consider I suppose - flight availability, compulsory quarantine and the legality of them entering your home.
Thank you.

Mid May earliest, assuming US and UK are allowing travel to and fro.

Ah yes, ok. May 17th two households mixing indoors. Thank you!

don't forget it is also dependent on the laws their end.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 09/03/2021 04:34

It'll also depend on the UK quarantine rules being lifted.

AFAIK Americans can fly in and out of the US but need a negative Covid test taken 72 hours or less before flying into the US.

Watching this closely...

KobaniDaughters · 09/03/2021 05:32

They can also quarantine in your home

SillyOldMummy · 09/03/2021 05:36

Remember in the past indoor mixing and overnight stays were not treated as the same so we might again be allowed indoor mixing but not allowed overnight visitors.

Remember also that overseas visitors quarantining at your home may also oblige YOU to quarantine for the same period. Just a few things to watch out for.

I'd not be working to any specific date.

As others have said it all depends on how the restrictions unwind at both end and that depends on how Covid "behaves" across both countries.

Leisure/family/holiday travel USA/UK two months from now seems very very optimistic but fingers crossed.

BritWifeinUSA · 09/03/2021 07:36

Very soon, I hope. I miss my mum.

I miss my (adult) sons who are in the UK. I’m in the US. I’ve booked flights for Aug, and have been vaccinated but I’m wondering if I need to allow for 10 days quarantine too.
