To be pissed off at the Rangers Fans in George’s square

This isn’t a rangers fans bashing thread (both my dad and brother are fans)

The scenes in George’s square in Glasgow are really annoying me: hundreds (maybe thousands) of fans squashed into a small area.

We’ve all had to stay home: lots of people have had different challenges or lost loved ones. But these fannies are out there spreading the Covid just because a fucking football team won something!

George Square, not George's Square 😉

willibald · 07/03/2021 23:24

It's hardly surprising. These lockdowns and restrictions need to end.

faerin · 07/03/2021 23:38

If I had become pissed about every lockdown breaking for the past year I would have had an aneurysm by now.

This way of living was never realistically sustainable to begin with, so situations like the one you're describing should come as no big shock. And other than that, It's just a waste of energy.

sweetkitty · 08/03/2021 00:07

I’m totally pissed off with the fireworks going off all day, the dogs a nervous wreck, couldn’t get her out for a walk. I don’t give a stuff what your footballs team has won letting off fireworks in the daytime just means your an idiot.

Notthemessiah · 08/03/2021 00:14

Students are fined and kicked out of university, futures ruined, for having a party, but hundreds of football fans just get a stern tweet from Nicola Sturgeon.

EvilOnion · 08/03/2021 00:27

As a Rangers fan myself I'm bloody ashamed but don't doubt for a minute that the same wouldn't have happened with Celtic fans if it'd been 10 in a row.

The season should never have been allowed to go ahead. Professional sport should have been side lined just as grassroots and children's activities have been if it is considered a danger.

They knew there would be mass celebrations either way!

ParkheadParadise · 08/03/2021 01:20

Just looking at pictures of George Square. The ground is covered with Broken bottles and fireworks. GC employees shouldn't be responsible for cleaning that up.

Lolastarsandstripe · 08/03/2021 17:58

@JollyHolly30 I’ve been saying this wrong for nearly 40 years!!! And I’m from Glasgow!

You are from Glasgow and you say George's Square!? Has no one ever corrected you? We aren't usually shy in coming forward...

Lolastarsandstripe · 08/03/2021 18:17

Well, i pronounce it “georgies square” I think my family all do too!! This is terrible

Piggywaspushed · 08/03/2021 20:03

There might be others who say this! Don't panic!! maybe I am just posh Glaswegian

I like the way you put the apostrophe in it. Commendable.

Lolastarsandstripe · 08/03/2021 21:19

@Piggywaspushed I thought it belonged to George! Hence why it got an apostrophe!

@EvilOnion my mum is Celtic through and through. Her granny lived up the same close as some of the original Celtic team. Her take on it was that it would just have been as bad if it was Celtic getting 10 in a row.
