Will online vaccine booking let you book if not eligible?

My partner is 45 and had a minor heart condition as a child. Doesn’t require checkups or medication as an adult but does get offered annual flu jab. Out of curiosity he tried COVID vaccine booking site and it did let him get to booking stage (I tried but said no straight away for me). Does that mean he’s been classified as group 6 and should go ahead and book or does it sometimes let people book who aren’t eligible yet? He answered no to ‘are you CEV?’ question and no to whether he had any if the listed conditions. I didn’t even get asked these questions.

He’d be fine waiting for his age group and hasn’t received a letter prompting him to go but do they always send these out? Not sure whether he should go ahead and book as he doesn’t want to jump the queue (he doesn’t consider himself particularly vulnerable).

Is it possible they're just moving on to the next group?

I know my local council have put up a link for the next group and have said people can start booking, despite having not been contacted by NHS yet.

As far as I’m aware - if you can book, you’re eligible. So he should go ahead.

If its allowing him to book he should go ahead and book asap

If he's answering the questions truthfully and it's letting him book, he's eligible.

My GP surgery told me the other day that they are now looking as far back as birth at some conditions. That might be it. Lots of people I know over 56 managed to book before they broadcast about the next group being eligible, as the bookings were open. A friend who is 54 wasn’t able to book.

If he can book, do so. The system only lets those eligible book and the sooner people go on the site and book an appointment, the sooner it can move onto the next groups.

Don't worry.

And to anyone wondering, it's currently allowing 56+ on national site, so get on there and book if you can.

And if you get an invite from a GP just get on and book.

What slows the system is people not booking when they can, for whatever reason.

Ok, thanks. Just realised our county have their own booking system (all sites offered on nhs main site are quite a way away) and the local site says it’s invite only. Also no appointments in next week due to supply issues. Hopefully he can book when they get more in. Thanks

That’s probably it then. Thanks
