If your child has a +ve lateral flow test in school they will have to isolate even if they later pass the full PCR test

I would have thought that if they pass the full PCR test that would supercede the lateral flow test and they could return to school.

Justice Secretary on TV news this morning saying that the government were not planning to change the current situation where a LFT carries more weight than the more accurate PCR test...

Which one? There are several to choose from...

I guess this is only a problem for a week (apart from those sent home in error, for whom it will be a problem for at least 2 weeks, if not longer).
So maybe the U-turn would not be worth the loss of face for the government.

Problem in medical terms is that so many parents were not properly informed about what the consent they were giving actually meant.
