I’m so excited for a haircut

I haven’t had my haircut since October 2019. Between then and now I’ve had a baby and post partum hair loss is in full swing and with hair down to my waist the hair is EVERYWHERE.
I just booked a hair cut. I am so excited for it. God I hope we really are coming (permanently) out of lockdown and things will be getting back to normal soon.

When have you booked it for....hairdressers can't open until 12 April?.

booandbumpp · 05/03/2021 19:32

@rosie39forever not until April 27th! I’m just happy to have it booked haha. Lockdown means I’m just excited at the prospect at this stage!!

Same here my last cut was Feb 2020, my short hair is now past my shoulders and oh my god the grey, I swear I looked in the mirror the other day and my Nan looked back at me!

booandbumpp · 05/03/2021 19:40

@rosie39forever it’s amazing how much hair changes your appearance! I never realised how much I rely on my hair to make me feel good about how I look in the mirror! It’s been up in a bun for the past 5 months and I’ve hated it. My “roots” are now most of my hair!!

I'm booked for 14th April and I can't wait - I'm more excited than having it coloured than cut to be honest. My hairdresser messaged me the night before the salon was taking bookings so I got in first.

Mindymomo · 06/03/2021 06:37

I managed to get my hair cut in September, so once in the last year. I have cut my fringe, but quite like it longer. It’s just past shoulder length. I would really like something different, but not sure what.

KikoMiko · 06/03/2021 07:05

Me too! I'm booked in on 15th April. I have the most shit fine hair which just looks awful when I don't have regular trims. Not had it cut since early November 2020 and am going for something completely different as a post-lockdown celebratory statement. I'm ridiculously excited!

AuntieMarys · 06/03/2021 07:07

I've got my hairdressers first appointment on April 13th...last went mid December. I normally go every 5-6 weeks. Cannot wait.
And the salon 2 days later for facial, waxing and nails.

QuidditchQueen · 06/03/2021 07:08

So envious!
As soon as I heard 12 April texted my hairdresser but no response yet...Would happily book in any date however far out. ..

likeamillpond · 06/03/2021 07:30

I can't wait to have some layers put in again.
I dont think long witchy wavy covid hai is a good look on anyone over 40.
I find after a ceetain age, shapeless long hair drags the face down and makes the person look haggard.
On the other hand my grandsons female friends (15) all seem to be sporting waist length sleek straight hair and it looks lovely.
Oh to be young. I'm jealous.

likeamillpond · 06/03/2021 07:31

Covid hair

RedRiverShore · 06/03/2021 09:00

My hairdresser rang me up and I have booked for 23rd April, can't do earlier because we are going away in caravan before that, I'm going to have to manage on holiday using our caravan shower, or caravan sink for my scraggly curly hair, it could be quite a state by the time it gets cutGrin

MuddleMoo · 06/03/2021 10:31

Similar position to you OP. Can't wait to have it cut short.

likeamillpond · 06/03/2021 11:25

Yes the novelty of longer hair is well and truly over.
It's too high maintenance.
Mine seems to alternate between a horrible bushy, wavy style one day and lank and flat the next.
Nothing like the long haired sleek shiny timotei ads that I imagined it would end up looking like!
Layers and a lovely flattering shorter style here I come.
Oh and lovely highlights as well.
I can't wait.

FannyCann · 06/03/2021 11:44

Ugh. I work in NHS and often have to wear X-ray leads plus full PPE and end up in such a sweat I have to change my scrubs. I can't bear hair down my neck, it's too hot and sweaty so I just took the scissors to mine and hacked away last week! It doesn't look to bad actually.
If it had been a total disaster I figured I'd just wear theatre caps at work and no one would see at home anyway.

On the theatre cap note, we have recently been sent a new batch from "Denny's Fashion" somewhere in China. They are blue plastic shower caps! One of my colleagues put one on and went purple in the face he was so overheated and couldn't take it off till the end of the procedure. GrinGrinGrin
Needless to say no one is wearing them but if anyone wants a supply of shower caps...great for home hair colouring....

MarcelineMissouri · 06/03/2021 11:51

Booked for 19th April. I cannot wait.

amylou8 · 06/03/2021 12:03

I've been cutting my own 😕 it's a fairly simple style, and I reckon I've not done too bad, but I think my hairdresser will tell me otherwise!

FannyCann · 06/03/2021 12:19

I reckon I've not done too bad, but I think my hairdresser will tell me otherwise!

On the plus side you know when hairdressers do that thing of holding up a limp lock looking as if there is a bad smell under their nose and asking "when did you last have a haircut" in an accusatory tone? They'll have no excuse for doing that now. An extra bonus for the big day!

SpnBaby1967 · 07/03/2021 15:46

Me too, and I rarely go to the hairdresser. But i have long, thick, frizzy hair. Except at the top where its limp, lifeless and greying.

I lose so much hair as well its utterly ridiculous!

poppycat10 · 07/03/2021 16:33

I am also looking forward to having a haircut but my appointment isn't until May :(
