So my doctors surgery has an inadequate Facebook update page and I have been looking at a nearby surgery's Facebook page which is more helpful. Last message says something like - please stop ringing us, we will tell you when it is your turn, but for info we have a lot of group 6 and we are working through them. There are one or two comments about how nice it is to be updated etc. I added a comment that if anyone wants to book direct (and are over 60) they can do so at a nearby hub. My post was deleted. I thought maybe I made a mistake so I posted it again. And it was deleted again. Why would the doctors want to do that? Are they hogging the patients because there is a financial incentive? Some of their patients might well travel the short distance to the hub if they were told that they could...

I didn’t post a link though I just mentioned that the local hubs are available to over 60s. As a comment not a post. But I take the point it may have been deleted by someone who does not realise that this is true. They could check though and actually inform people, if they wanted to, instead of just apologising for taking so long to get through group 6..,

It doesn't surprise me at all. GP surgeries are the same with flu jabs. It's all about the money! One surgery near me was even ringing their patients and telling them to cancel the flu jab they'd booked at the local pharmacy as it wasn't as good as theirs Confused.

My GP's Facebook page is actively trying to dissuade people from booking via the hub, making out that it would be more difficult because of the need to travel etc. When it's my turn I will be using the hub and not them.

It's so disingenuous. They are notorious for this type of behaviour though. They have an onsite pharmacy that is owned by the practice and when you do repeat prescription requests they will send it to their pharmacy, even if you specify that you want it to go to the pharmacy in town.
