Pfizer second jab side effects

PutTheCakeDOWN · 03/03/2021 07:22

I had my second jab yesterday. No side effects except sore arm after the first.
About ten hours after I had it a had a very sudden attack of extreme nausea and diarrhoea. I wasn’t actually sick but was dry heaving for ages. Chills and feeling a bit light headed. A few hours later it went.

Has anyone else experienced this??

I've only had the 1st Pfizer so far - initially nauseous for a couple of hours, then a really painful arm overnight and all the next day.
I did have a dodgy tummy but I've got IBS so can't be 100% sure it was the jab (although it's been worse than usual in the 2 weeks since I had the jab)

LakeFlyPie · 05/03/2021 23:01

Most of my colleagues have had increased side effects after 2nd Pfizer jab than first (and most of them have had Covid too), I was fine, slightly achey arm but much less achey than 1st one

LunaHeather · 05/03/2021 23:06

Sorry to hear that OP

I'm worried about my mum, in her 80s, with heart problems. I think I need to stay with her after the second jab, she thinks it's unnecessary.

RobBeckettsTeeth · 05/03/2021 23:10

I have a friend who works at the local GP. She said the 2nd Pfizer is hard going

UKhun · 06/03/2021 09:20

@Lindy2

Oh dear UKhun

I hope you feel better in the morning. My mum had her second Pfizer yesterday and so far, feels ok. She's in her 80s though and I think it tends to be younger people that react more.

I do thanks! Started shivering last night on top of the aches so took two codeine tablets and was asleep by 10pm. Feeling fine now!

Good evening. I had my 2nd dose today at 9am but my arm seems to hurt more this time and i seem to be more tired and bad headache.
Are the 2nd ones giving more side effects than the 1st, i worked a late today so 1pm til 7pm and it was a struggle. Other staff members seem to be saying the same as me and a couple have rung in sick.
Anyone else had this and how long for.

Woodpecker22 · 28/04/2021 07:33

Has anyone else had their 2nd Pfizer? I have a hair appointment the day after mine, I have not had my hair done for a year and I am wondering if I need to rearrange but they are booked up for 2 months.

Urgh, I’m due my second Pfizer in a couple weeks and dreading it based on what I’ve read.

First jab made me feel hungover and spaced out for 48 hours, along with a sore arm, so I’m expecting something brutal for the 2nd.

Crocidura · 28/04/2021 07:41

Just a sore arm after my second Pfizer. The nurse said that side effects are often worse after the second dose but I was fine.

FedNlanders · 28/04/2021 07:41

No symptoms after 1st Pfizer at all. 2nd I had bad stomach and chills that evening and felt hungover for a day.

Mindymomo · 28/04/2021 12:51

My DH had his second yesterday. He was warned side effects may be worse for the second and to drink lots of water. His arm is really sore and we’ve just got back from a 2 hour walk. He’s now gone to have a lay down, but would have done that already.

huckie · 28/04/2021 17:05

First dose Pfizer I suffered from the chills and feeling nauseous for a few hours. The sore arm lasted 48 hours. Second dose so far (I had it yesterday) feeling tired and sore arm.

Binglebong · 28/04/2021 17:32

I had nothing first time but a raised three-inch-wide rock-solid lump around the injection site the second. No great pain apart from when I prodded it to see if it was still hard!

huckie · 28/04/2021 17:47

Ouch! Binglebong. Hope it softened soon.!

Azerothi · 28/04/2021 17:49

Nothing for me either first or second pfizer. Mild arm ache but that's it.

Binglebong · 28/04/2021 18:30

Lasted about a week huckie, no harm done and entirely worth it.

happytoday73 · 28/04/2021 18:32

Fine after 1st Pfizer, headachy and tired after 2nd for 2 days.... So glad I've had them both

huckie · 28/04/2021 20:16

😀

AllThatisSolid · 28/04/2021 20:20

I’m having my second Pfizer vaccination next week so interested in this. I just a tender upper arm for about 48 hours after the first one.

I’ll report back but I imagine responses are pretty individualised?

ArcheryAnnie · 28/04/2021 20:21

Had my second Pfitzer jab about 11 hours ago. I had to have a nap this afternoon, but I often do (Long Covid) so unsurprising. Feel a bit shit but not yet awful. Let's see how it goes.

dottyrobin · 28/04/2021 20:28

1st Pfizer - mild sore arm but nothing noticeable really
2nd Pfizer - my lymph nodes (armpit) got very swollen for around 3 days (48hrs after jab). But no other effects

MRex · 28/04/2021 20:36

DM, DF and DFIL had no side effects from either jab.
DA fine with first but headache and fatigue so off to bed for a day with the second.
DMIL had dizziness, headache and heart palpitations with the first and then worse with the second; hard to know if it's definitely side effects due to other conditions. (One BIL got the dizziness and headache after Astrazeneca first dose, so to be fair it may just be that everyone's immune system responds slightly differently rather than vaccine specific.)

Binglebong · 28/04/2021 21:11

Ooh I'd forgotten swollen lymph nodes for a few days. Just on the one side though - very odd!

Eyjafjallajokulldottir · 28/04/2021 21:11

I didn't have any side effects after my 1st Pfizer jab. Had my 2nd 2 weeks ago and have had tinnitus since. Very annoying.

Lipsandlashes · 28/04/2021 21:16

My mum had diarrhoea after the second Pfizer jab, which probably lasted 24 hours. She was fatigued for about a week but she is 80 and type 2 diabetic.
My dad felt very unwell indeed after his second jab. He is 90 but in great health usually. He had a headache, nausea, back and stomach pain and general aches and shivers for three weeks. He told me he felt like he was going to die Sad Then he just woke up one morning last week and felt absolutely fine again.
