Sorry its another vaccine one.... but has anyone had delayed side effects?

I've heard a few people (anecdotally) say they didn't have any side effects until 48 hours +

Wondered if there was any weight to this or if they've just caught a general bug (or if its psychosomatic)

I didn’t have effects until a few days later then I had crushing fatigue and agonising headaches.
A few colleagues were the same, although 2 of them did have a sore arm the day after their vaccine as well.

Pfizer vaccs btw.

mumto2teenagers · 02/03/2021 21:37

My DD had side effects a couple of days later, nothing serious just an ache in her arm and felt really tired.

Crunchymum · 02/03/2021 21:40

Sorry to hear that. Hope it passed quickly?

FWIW one person claims to have had side effects a week after (they had only been out for the vaccine?)

I know another person who developed "side effects" on day 4. Again they had only been out for the vaccine.

One was Pfizer and the other AZ.

Plus all the usual crap from people on social media.

I had some after 24 hrs. Didn't last long felt grotty for the evening , fine again the next day

Thimbleberries · 02/03/2021 22:24

About 48 hours later, the injection site got quite red over the area a few centimetres around it and very itchy, which lasted for another day or so after that. Otherwise didn't really get any side effects, maybe a bit tired. Pfizer.

I have a hard lump in my arm 9 days post-vaccine. It is swollen, hot and incredibly sore and itchy. However today is the first day I haven’t taken painkillers every 4 hours so I think it’s improving at last. I googled it at the weekend and it seems to be referred to as COVID arm. Lasts about 2 weeks apparently and they think it is a mild allergic. reaction. I had the Oxford vaccine. Just wish it would go as it’s driving me mad now.

I'm never sure on these threads if people only want examples of where it has happened, or if you are trying to build up a picture of how likely it is, and want all the millions of people who haven't had side effects, to post as well ?

(I'm in the second group)

My dad! 4 days after the vaccine he started feeling ill with cv symptoms . We were absolutely panicking- hes very vulnerable and wouldnt stand a chance if he contracted it - but everything died down again after 24 hours and the doctor concluded it must be a delayed reaction to the jab. Or sheer coincidence I guess?

dennispennis · 02/03/2021 23:56

I did two days after jab sore throat, cough, aches chills and fever, lasted 4 days the vanished completely

Hereslurkingatyoukid · 31/05/2021 18:16

I know this thread is from a while ago but I was searching for anyone who'd had similar - I've had Moderna and had nothing but a sore arm for a couple of days after, but then on day 5 got the shivers, aches, nausea...it's still here two days on. Wondering if it's the vaccine or just another bug

Rowgtfc72 · 01/06/2021 04:25

Two weeks after the AZ vaccination my arm started to really hurt and I was hot and cold and was dizzy for a few hrs. Same symptoms I had 24 hrs after the actual vaccination.

Wanttocry · 01/06/2021 05:15

I had my first Pfizer jab on Friday and woke up about an hour ago feeling horrendously nauseated and like I might throw up at any moment.
Obviously no idea if it’s related to the vaccine but no one in my house is unwell, and DH and I are still working from home full time so any bugs will probably come into the house through DD, who is fine.
Obviously it doesn’t really matter if it’s vaccine related given that I assume either way it will pass fairly soon. Would only be useful to know so I’d know if might happen after the second one.

YessicaHaircut · 01/06/2021 06:03

I had the Pfizer. Felt knackered, headachey and had a sore arm immediately afterwards both times which lasted a day or two. But both times I also had a flare up of my asthma for a couple of days, around 2 weeks after the jab. It’s normally really well controlled and suddenly I was having to use my inhaler several times over the day and night. Didn’t last long but I’m pretty sure it was a delayed side effect.

I came up in enormous hives directly on and around the injection spot a good ten days after the injection. They did (slowly) go with antihistamine.

I didn't follow my gut and take a precautionary antihistamines for the second. I should have. The reaction was much quicker and more serious. However it was also resolved with anti histamine much quicker.

I'll take that over covid and long covid any day of the week
