*Very important re online vaccine booking*

Please don't forget you MUST scroll down and click on Confirm when you book your vaccinations online.

It's the final step after you've selected the times and dates for BOTH jabs - it's easy to miss this step as you have to scroll down and apparently lots of people are turning up thinking they have booked, and they haven't, so are turned away as someone else has properly booked the slot.

But the system doesn't send you your reference numbers and confirmation e-mail/text until after you press confirm...and you have to give your booking reference when you turn up.
Are people assuming they've booked when they have no confirmation or reference number then??

picknmix1984 · 02/03/2021 08:54

Thanks op I know a few people say on here that their parents didn't do that and it caused problems.

I have a booking number but never received email or text? Does that mean my appointment isn't properly booked? I only booked my second as I was given my first without needing an appointment.
Roystonv · 02/03/2021 09:10

Oh God I am the same and am due at 10.05 today. I have reference number but no confirmation - HELP!

ThatDamnKrampus · 02/03/2021 16:16

@Roystonv Did all go ok this morning?

WombatChocolate · 02/03/2021 16:45

You can go back into the system and manage your booking. So you can see if it exists or not.

Thank you, I'll double check.

I don't have a reference number? I did get a reminder yesterday though so I'm assuming not all of the online booking systems give a number.

Seeline · 03/03/2021 08:39

It's the national online booking system that gives reference numbers.

I booked for my mum and never got a confirmation email, but it was obvious from the system that I had done it correctly. The last screen said something like your booking is complete and gave the reference numbers for both appointments.

BMW6 · 03/03/2021 13:20

When you have clicked Confirm you will get booking reference numbers for each appointment (which you should take with you on the day).

You can also request text to mobile or email to confirm as well.

I was warned by a sibling who went for hers and related how a lot of people turned up without booking reference numbers as they hadn't clicked on the confirm button. They had to go home and rebook.

I booked both mine at 4am (woke early) today, and if my sis hadn't warned me I probably would have missed this vital step.

Hm, this is interesting. Partner has hers on Saturday, has a confirmation email but there is no reference number in it and it is for the first dose only. How do we know this is okay? I guess having a confirmation email should be it?

NellePorter · 04/03/2021 19:11

It sounds like these are different booking systems. I went yesterday without any reference number and it was fine.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/03/2021 21:01

This is for the national system.

I did have a slight moment of feeling faint, because I'd booked dhs for him. But he's checked and he has reference numbers. Phew.

covetingthepreciousthings · 06/03/2021 09:50

Is it supposed to let you book both appointments? My mums just booked hers but it didn't give her the option for second one so only booked first.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/03/2021 10:14

If you go through the national website, then as far as I know it should give you the chance to book both. If you book through a text or other contact from your gp or gp led hub, then you just get the first one and they will contact you close to the time re the second.

Willyoujustbequiet · 06/03/2021 11:19

I saw people get turned away at our hub on Thursday as they didn't have the right paperwork

rslsys · 06/03/2021 11:36

Make sure you take your NHS number with you. When we had our jabs the reference number generated by the system apparently has no value, they were spending a lot of time looking up peoples NHS numbers. Took us two hours from joining the queue to actually getting jabbed!
