My nearly 18 yr has been called for vaccine!!

Hoping you can all advise me my dd turns 18 on Thursday , so the gp said she can have pfzier not AstraZeneca ? But it says 18 and over can on the internet ? I basically have a choice either go this week to get AstraZeneca or next week for pFzier when they get stock? What is safest?

Both. Get whichever one can be done soonest.

Both are safe, and a few days before or after she's 18 won't make any difference either way. I expect the age cut off is down to who the vaccine was tested on during the trials. If they didn't test it on people under 18 they can't get a licence for it to be used in this group, but that doesn't mean it won't be safe to give to someone who is very nearly 18

Both are safe. They’ve been rigorously tested on thousands & thousands of people. Let alone the millions who have now been vaccinated as well.

Only Pfizer approved for under 18. A few parents on FB mentioned that Astra Zeneca was given, in all cases their children were closer to 18 rather than 16.

My 17 had the Pfizer jab last week. Just thrilled he was offered one TBH. Lucky sod felt fine afterwards. I didn’t after AZ.

Yes, she can still catch covid even after being vaccinated.

My 17 year old was vaccinated last week and had to have a test today! Negative.

Ok so still takes tests.
