As above I am shaking so badly I am in agony with how tight my muscles are getting. I'm so cold is this a normal side affect?? I feel fine just this and cold! Had vaccine at 9.30am this morning.

Do you have a temperature? I was recommended to take paracetamol and told that any side effects would be gone by the next morning.

DidgeDoolittle · 28/02/2021 20:47

My son had this after the AstraZeneca vaccine. It passed after 24 hours.

FrostedMittens · 28/02/2021 20:48

No temperature at the moment

I had this same vaccine yesterday afternoon and by bedtime had a high temperature and shivering. Awoke in the night with the worst headache and sinus pain and actually got sick. I wasn’t sure if it was effects of a migraine or the actual jab. Felt pretty rubbish today. Friends have told me the Oxford jab more likely to give after effects than other varieties.

Forevernamechange12333333 · 28/02/2021 20:48

Yes normal- based on my experience and others. Parcetomal and ibro and an early night. Might feel wiped out tomorrow and then tired for a few nights after. 3/4 days after you’ll be fine

DogsSausages · 28/02/2021 20:50

Its difficult to know if its the vaccine , covid or another cause. Have you rung 111 for medical advice.

chipsandgin · 28/02/2021 20:50

All 3 people I know who’ve had it had these symptoms, all clear in 24 hours after they started (would be handy if it was a bit more widely known and anticipated though!). Hope you feel better soon OP.

ShitInAPyrexDish · 28/02/2021 20:51

My partner had hers a couple of weeks ago and was exactly the same. She had hers in the morning and spent the whole evening shivering, she said she felt like she couldn't warm up.

lockdownbreakdown · 28/02/2021 21:00

I just has the same thing overnight after having the jab in the morning. Bit tired today and needed a nap. Everyone I know who hals had the oxford had a similar reaction.

PurpleWh1teGreen · 28/02/2021 21:11

Yes, Me too! only lasted an hour or so and then I warmed up. Had a headache and a sore arm too. Just to reassure you, these are not unusual side effects although they do appear to be more common amongst younger people and those who have had Covid previously. It’s fine to take regular paracetamol and it should self-resolve in a day or two. Take plenty of fluids & rest if you can too.

You should have received the white leaflet from AZ and the purple coloured NHS one which has advice on side effects and what to do if you are unwell, please check these for further advice.

scpips · 28/02/2021 21:11

I had a similar reaction last week that started about 10 hours after the jab. I also had a temperature, it lasted a day and all great since then.

CKBJ · 28/02/2021 21:32

That was my mum last Saturday. She had vaccine in morning and by Saturday night had uncontrollable shaking for 3hrs then a really high temperature. Has taken a good 6days for her to feel better 2 of which were spent in bed. Even today she is still tired after a short walk.

saraclara · 28/02/2021 21:33

Yep. Had my jab at midday, and by 10pm I had the deepest chills I've ever had. Was in pyjamas, thick winter duvet over me plus two blankets, and still bone cold and shivering. No temperature as such, but so achey and cold. Awful.

I was in bed until noon next day, but then started feeling better. My temp was very slightly raised by 0.5 to 1 deg, but went back to normal within 48 hours

DinosaurDiana · 28/02/2021 21:36

Take some painkillers and drink plenty of water.

IdblowJonSnow · 28/02/2021 21:40

Yep, normal. I felt better after a day or so.
If you're unlucky itll go on for more than 2 - 3 days but most people's symptoms wear off fast.

AnneElliott · 28/02/2021 21:53

Yes I had this too. Only lasted 24 hours.

PatsyJStone · 01/03/2021 06:52

AstraZeneca - Had mine Saturday evening, by Sunday morning felt extremely achy, cold, had headache. Spent the whole day in bed. By evening I started with sweats. This morning I am aching but the unwell feeling has gone and temperature seems normal. Arm is still very tender and a bit of a headache.

orderingcalmingtea · 01/03/2021 06:58

I've just woken up from this so I'm kind of glad to know it's somewhat normal. Debating whether to go to work or not, I seem to be over the worst but still not feeling wonderful

sonnysunshine · 01/03/2021 07:00

It's completely normal, don't worry. It will pass both me and DH had this. 24 hoursfor DH, 3 days for me (l have a shit over reactive immune system). Not pleasant but 1000% better than when we had covid.

PurpleWh1teGreen · 01/03/2021 07:42

@DogsSausages

Its difficult to know if its the vaccine , covid or another cause. Have you rung 111 for medical advice.
Please follow the advice in the leaflets the vaccine centre gave you and don’t ring 111 for known side effects within 24 hours.
FrostedMittens · 01/03/2021 08:00

Thanks guys, the chills didn't last too long by about midnight I woke up and they had stopped. Woke up aching all over and have a headache but otherwise I feel fine.

Had this last night after having the vaccine yesterday afternoon this morning I’m back to normal though. Just a bit tired. Well worth it!
