2 day course in April - can I stay over?

I'm tying myself in knots over this and can't figure out what I am allowed to/should do.
I've been invited to do a 2 day course in the last week of April. It's related to a voluntary role I have, not paid work, but it comes under the umbrella of "education". (It's the start of a course that I will get a recognised qualification from.)
The problem is that it is much too far for me to travel daily from home. Normally I would stay with my in laws who live much nearer the venue but obviously that's not allowed. Will hotels, Airbnb's etc let rooms to people in these circumstances? Not sure what I'd do for food but I guess I could live on sandwiches for a couple of days.
If I don't go there's another course starting in September but logistically it's going to be a lot harder to get the necessary practical elements done over the winter. Also the organisation I volunteer with really needs someone to get this qualification asap so I'd prefer to get it started soon.
I just am not sure whether it is possible/safe/ reasonable to do the April course. WWYD, and if you'd go, does anyone have suggestions of where I could stay in Manchester?

Self contained accommodation open from 12th April. Maybe you can find a self catering apartment?

From 12 April you can stay overnight in self contained accommodation. So as long as no hiccups in the roadmap dates you should be fine.

I'm a lecturer and our students are staying in their flats if they are back. One of the residences is catered (I assume they are taking food back to their flats). If you can find somewhere to stay you will be OK.

My husband was booked on a 2 week work course in January staying at a nearby hotel. A lot of larger chain hotels are open and you can stay for work purposes.

My friends husband still travels the country as part of his job (he’s in construction). He stays in hotels & airbnbs now. If it’s for work, some are still open!

Thanks all. I think I will see if I can find self catering accomodation as that would solve the food problem too.
I feel ok with doing the course as it's a small group thing and we will be outdoors for quite a bit of it so I think it will be fairly safe. But I think I've got a bit conditioned to not being allowed to do anything and it feels strange. I was expecting loads of posts berating me for even thinking of travelling somewhere to be honest!
