Previous Chemotherapy and vaccine?

I’ve read that Grant Shapps had his vaccine due to previous cancer treatment 20 years ago. It’s not clear in the report but I guess chemotherapy.

I’ve not read that previous chemotherapy can put you in the more vulnerable group. (I had chemotherapy 10 years ago). A bit of digging and I found an article saying that it can make you more vulnerable to viruses in general including Covid becoming more severe.

Anyone heard anything? I understand the vulnerable group is being added to all the time and increased. I’m sure it’s just a case of wait and see if the GP calls. I’m fit and healthy otherwise so no actual urgency. Just interested to read about Grant.

It could be media misreporting obviously. He many have other conditions we don’t know about.

A friend of mine has just received vaccine due to chemo 20 years ago. She was sent a letter calling her up a couple of weeks ago.
The ca and treatment caused other comorbidities so sounds sensible .

Have you looked at the Qcovid risk calculator. As I understand it it summarises the factors used for the group 6 banding, and it includes chemotherapy details.

Thanks @girlofthenorth I guess it’s a case by case basis and whether the chemotherapy has caused other issues.

Thanks @ExcusesAndAccusations

I hadn’t seen that part of the calculator will go check it out.
Much appreciated!

Consult your GP. There are a lot of variables when it comes to cancer treatments and enduring impacts.

Only some cancers (all blood cancers and others when on active treatment) count as CEV (priority 4) but others living with it beyond cancer may well be CV (priority 6) and thus eligible for jab around now.

Thanks @nether
I’ll give them a call.
