Have people with childhood hospitalisation for asthma been called up for group 6?

Yes.

Racoonworld · 25/02/2021 06:36

I haven’t.

BunsyGirl · 25/02/2021 06:39

No. But my brother with much milder asthma , who has never been hospitalised and never been on a nebuliser has! It’s a postcode lottery OP.

I agree postcode lottery. I cant see they would have my hospitalisation with my notes. Ive moved twice since then.
Some probably think vax as many as possible while others are very strict.
Mine was also possibly at or around time of diagnosis.

My brother who was hospitalised several times as a child, hasn't been called but another relative with mild asthma, who doesn't use inhalers has.

It's a post-code lottery.

@Bilgepumper It’s crazy. My brother doesn’t even use a brown inhaler but has had a vaccination! Asthma U.K. are petitioning the Government for all asthma suffers to be put in a priority group. It is very worrying for me as I was quite ill for about six weeks this time last year and couldn’t walk up the stairs because I was so out of breath. My GP suspected Covid but I wasn’t entitled to a test back then.

Bilgepumper · 25/02/2021 13:39

It is crazy. I've told my brother to get onto the practice but he thinks I'm fussing. Typical bloke!

emmathedilemma · 25/02/2021 13:46

one of my friends has had an invite, she's had hospitalisation for asthma as an adult and also has a very high BMI so it could be either or both that have triggered her being called. I have mild asthma but have a brown inhaler on prescription (also had steroid tablets for a bad flare up a couple of years ago), never been hospitalised and haven't had one.

HSHorror · 25/02/2021 15:46

Agree bunsy. I was ill apr and would have been hospitalized if that was usual asthma . There wasnt the wheeze or cough though.

Ive got ongoing hand numbness art night and muscle twitches. The lungs felt better in jul.

The dm showed dafa of 8% of the deaths are asthmatics so 5k. And i think the argument is that that is lower than the prevalence in the normal population

@HSHorror my own personal theory is that steroid inhalers helped asthma sufferers who caught Covid but that doesn’t mean that we are not at risk. I didn’t have a wheeze either.
