Using this link:
www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/
Anyone over 60 will be able to proceed with getting an appointment and no longer receive the 'You are not eligible to book through this service' message.

Just been able to book for me and dh both 61. No conditions but unpaid carer for dm

Some areas are way ahead and looking to do all over 50s by March 7th www.google.com/amp/s/metro.co.uk/2021/02/22/nine-areas-where-all-over-50s-to-get-first-covid-vaccine-by-march-7-14123075/amp/

I hope Wales follows suit as my dad could get it then. But Wales do seem to be a bit slower. My nanny in her 90s was quite late, some over 80s in England has been given their 1st one before she had.

murbblurb · 24/02/2021 13:23

thank you thank you thank you! Will check with eligible house mate :-) when he returns, it is coming up with quite a distance so to see if that is possible or should wait for GP.

it does indeed still say 'over 64' but truthful answers regarding not being front line still let house mate through.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/02/2021 13:24

No, it says if any of the following apply... so just being 64 is fine

Ah - thanks, Patricia
I did say "If I've read it right" and it looks like I didn't Blush

Easy to skim read! It has changed so much over the past weeks as well ;-)
Boulshired · 24/02/2021 13:38

Think there will be some devastated CV, my area is completely booked up in the GP run centres for two weeks, whilst the hubs are pretty empty. Many still waiting for letters.

Needabrewnow · 24/02/2021 13:47

My 63 year old dad is being too honest and saying 'it says 64 and over so I can't' BUT I HAVE JUST BEEN ON AND SEEN YOU CAN!! I might book for him.

TalbotAMan · 24/02/2021 13:53

I'm 63 and also (I think) Group 6. I went on and it let me through to the booking which it never did before. Didn't go further as I'd already arranged through GP.

blimppy · 24/02/2021 13:54

Sorry if I'm missing the obvious, but the NHS website is saying you have to be over 64 to book, unless you fit one of the other categories. Is it saying different things in different areas?

Summerflowers209 · 24/02/2021 13:56

@blimppy I think the consensus is that the front page has not been updated to reflect the age groups now eligible to book.

Will 119 also let over 60s book or is it only online? My in-laws are worried that they're doing something against the rules by booking online, but might be happier if they could actually speak to someone and do it..

Summerflowers209 · 24/02/2021 13:59

I'm afraid I haven't called 119 so don't know the answer to that, however if you call it's worth saying you are able to proceed with a booking online, is this correct?

So many threads about this today it seems, just try and book and see if it lets you. The general view is that it now lets over 60s regardless of what the front page says

Yes, if it lets them book online it’ll also let them book if they ring 119.
Roystonv · 24/02/2021 14:56

Just done now. I am 61, thought I'll give it a go, answered all the questions and was accepted without a problem for first one on 2.3.21 so in no time at all at a easy to get to site (South Lakes). You have nothing to lose by trying. Thank you op.

Actually, per head Wales has been faster than the other U.K. countries. As per the picture, NI are faster with 2nd shots. Over a third of the whole 16+ population of wales have received a first vaccine. There was also a lot of publicity telling people in each group as it went through to book an appointment if they had been missed in a very similar system to this.

WanderingMilly · 24/02/2021 15:10

I've been on and managed to book, I'm 61 and it let me.
However it appears that others who have tried booking haven't been sent a reference number and the system has said to 'rebook' their chosen date. I assume it is dependent upon area, centre and the date you pick.....?
As far as I can see, if it lets you book a vaccination, take it; if the system won't let you, you will be called soon enough....

fussychica · 24/02/2021 17:14

Thank you for this thread. I'm 64 and went on last night. Appointment for Monday. DH 63 tried and was also able to book in, so did.

Lubiluxe · 24/02/2021 18:01

Thanks @cardibach unfortunately this wasn't the case in their area. I was checking the social media daily.. never mind though as she has had it now :)

cardibach · 24/02/2021 18:09

That’s good @Lubiluxe
I think roll out was a bit slow in some places due to geography and the need for fancy storage for the Pfizer one!
